After 3 years I finally have windows that roll up
And down 🤩. Snow wheeling soon enough 😎

Finally I decided it was time to finish old crusty . Today was the day 💪. Sanded. Primed and raptor lined . Looks better than a purist build 🤷‍♂️🤩😳. I am undecided if I want to just spray the underside 🤔 or get a headliner . Going to sleep on it

I am kinda at a crossroads with this  . I am almost considering selling :frown:. reason why is i do not really use it :( Maybe once i have the top on i may drive it more :hmm:. Its winter now and it will sit in the garage . To get my heater hooked up would mean relocating the battery :bang:. Not really sure to where ? I am kicking around the idea of getting either a 80 or a 4 runner . I now kick myself for getting rid of my FJ . Or i fix up my Tundra a little . I am trying to tell myself If i get something else something has to go . I have to Much stuff .

I am kinda at a crossroads

You probably don’t want my advice. I’d try to talk you into keeping it and making it a regular driver.

Have you thought about installing a Vintage Air unit? It would potentially solve your battery issue, though you still might need to move it over a bit to sneak the lines through the firewall.

Somewhere in the last 3 years i somehow lost the I just hope it can go 10 mph and will never be anything but a wheeler . Maybe i just double down and go all in plus on it  :steer:

Two 40s make an 80!
Lol

Its always that fine line between daily/streetable and a trailer. Doesn't matter what the platform is. I was in the same boat with my LX. Putting a set of radials on it made it a lot more driveable and most of all, justifiable to keep it around. I have started a 40 project, but Im going into that knowing that yes, it will have plates, but no it will never be a daily. Thats a beatiful rig, and at least for me, I always forget all the time I have in them to get them to this point. Money is one thing, but the time to do it again.....

Like @Mike Shull mentioned, vintage air would be a good option. I think Im gonna run a rear heater setup out of an 80 series and see how that works for me. I haven't pulled a tape measure, but Im 99% sure that I can hide that up under the center of my 40 cowl. I have the one I took out of my LX, so outta pocket cost is in my budget... lol

My last 40, I had an under seat school bus heater in my center console that was ducted to the windshield and under the seats blowing out. Never got cold.... lotta options out there, just a little imagination.

I have all the oe heater parts I just have my Battery mounted where the Blower should go . I am looking at some electric heaters ? Unfortunately space is critical . Elsie takes up half of the rear area as it is . Driving it on the street is not really a issue It drives fine I just would not take it on a trip . I drive it around Tahoe when i am down there and Rubicon to Fordyce . The front end is a little wider than i wish it was . I can narrow it 3 inches buy changing my wheel hubs just not sure its worth it . If i can get the top done and some sort of heat Maybe even just a 40 rear heater would be ok ? and i can get it in the snow then i am sure that will make me happy . Off road its a beast . I am going to get a SM465 trans today Not sure if that is going in the Blue 40 or i just say Enough is enough and pull the TH400 trans . I really would like to have the engine back a few inches . I have had Many very nice Toyotas and not 1 has been the perfect rig . This one is getting close but its never going to be a Buggy that drives like a new 250 . The burning question in me is what would i need to do to make it ?

And before Pesty Blows it up 12x with his magnifying glass. Yes i see the little spots on the drip rail Pesty . I need to Flip the top and prep it and spray the underside still I just needed to make some room and put it up there for a few days

Looking at your pics, notice the windows are still out. Im sure you're on it already, but plan on some sort of sound deadener. I remember driving mine the first time after putting it on, and HATED what an echo chamber it was.

Can not say that I have thought about sound deadening it . I took the windows out when I had everything sand blasted . Undecided still if I want to get a light tint on the glass first . I do not want it dark because I want to be able to see . I had a FJ c so I know what it’s like not seeing . . I have thought about having some sort of upholstery done on the inside but then I keep telling myself this is a wheeler not a show car. It’s just a hard balance

So not sure if I will go this route or not but it was a good deal and I may just do it . SM465. I have to see if I get the behemoth t-case or atlas If it will be any shorter I really want my engine back a few inches . And I would like a real front u joint. With the th400 it small like a little jeep u joint

I have to see maybe I can use my Orion still . I really hate to spend another 3500 to do the same thing it does now

My sm465 is perfect for me, but our local driving tops out at 60mph. It’s not a smooth shifting machine and on a grade it could use another gear between 2&3. But for putting around the valley and trails it’s a good comprise.

An auto would be nice on the trail, but I’ve accepted that this may very well be the last stick shift I own. It also fits the old school mentality perfectly.

i am hoping with a 465 and my orion or if i go atlas it will be low enough . I like my auto i just do like how close my fan is to my Rad Yes it works but i can just feel that fan eating that Rad at some point when i drop down something hard .

I’m happy with the Orion as well, but I’m only on 35’s with stock gearing.
You’re using a mechanical fan I take it? Switching to a electric fan would solve this worry. It’d be a lot cheaper and easier. My ls is 1/2” off the firewall and I have just enough clearance for a Taurus fan with the stock radiator in the stock location.
