Threw the top on for the 12thousandth time. But this should be the last for a while 😃. Sprayed the rear header today also

Went for a drive today. Having the top on is different. It’s quieter but louder at the same time . Kinda echoes more I guess . I do have a slight front main seal leak 🤬. Honestly I am tired of working on this thing . And I went to list it for sale but I guess you have to pay 5 bucks to marketplace now 🤷‍♂️. So I gave up . I am not sure if I will fix it or just wait and pull the entire drivetrain 🤦🏻‍♂️.

After years of running just a bikini top, I finally put the soft top on. I couldn’t believe how claustrophobic it felt. Noise levels were no better. After an 8 hour drive on the trailer and watching it balloon out and screw up the paint job, it came off. I suppose I’ll put it back on at some time, but I really love these things with the top off.

I love the front spring hangers with the bushings still in em, classic.

I know i have been a little quiet lately . But i have been really busy . 2025 is going to be a Blur  I have tried to really think through the next steps as far as what i want my drivetrain to be . IE: stay auto or go manual . I prefer to stay auto but there are some Huge things that i do not like with it . First is engine placement I really want to go back 3 inches . Right now i can not since the T case would be into my rear link mount . Now by going to a Atlas i think will fix that problem and also center my driveline . This bugs me a little since the Orion works great and i have had zero issues with my rear driveline . So if anyone is thinking about getting a Orion i will have one that has maybe 500 miles on it built by Valley Hybrids . The other Big thing i do not like is the little mini u joint i have to run on the front to clear the th400 trans pan . This works and is fine for probably 80 percent of rigs but i want some more beef there . The Atlas again should cure that issue .If by going with the Atlas i can squeeze 2-3 more inches then i will be golden and stay auto . If not then i have a SM465 . In 2025. we have KOH . Cruise Moab , Rubithon , And this next one that has made me really think about what to do next :steer::hmm:. I will be able to talk about it more this week after a few more zoom meetings . and i would like to go to TrailHero . yes i am inching towards hitting that panic button again ( its the buy now button ) .

On the List of things for 2025 :

New engine 383 ( its just a want ) I finally have zero leaks :D
New Trans. TH400 Or SM465 ( i fixed the shift shaft leak . then had new leaks from the pan bolts :hmm:. think i just am over that .
New T-case. Atlas Or Behemoth ( i can get a Atlas Tomorrow if i wanted In stock and ready to go )
Install Dakota Digital cluster
Rock lights
Hook up my Hydro Assist . ( just need to run the lines )
finish hooking up my Rugged Radio coms . I have headsets and can have bluetooth for music . ( Need the intercom )
Move my battery :bang:. so i can hook up the fan blower . On the fence about just going with Vintage Air .

have you considered a Th350? You could pick up 3" there, they are shorter. Lower 1st gear too. manual seems like it would be a huge step backwards with your uses for this truck

Yes Th350 is what I am going to go with

th350 is like 50-60 lbs lighter too which is nice. Not as strong but you won't break it with what you are doing.

Since you are going to a 350 I assume the 400 died from something besides not holding the power/use of your rig ?

Yes when I was up in the snow I am not sure how but the pan bolts came loose and she puked all her guts out . That trans has been kinda a pain all along as it always had a leak at the shift shaft . Normally that is an easy fix. ( I even bought the tool and seal ) but this one did not have a seal . The very early th400 has a oring. 🙄. Anyways I finally got around to fixing that and I had zero leaks. And poof 🔥

Also that trans is the one thing on this 40 that I knew nothing about as it came with it . Now I will know about the new one . If this one did not have the dumb oring. I would just have it rebuilt but that is not the case so it has to go

Monster TH350 And Atlas 5.1. Ordered. Atlas ship date Jan 17 😃. Going to be able to move my engine back now 🤩. Run a giant fan and shroud 😊. I may have ordered a few other things as well 😳. 2025 is a big year and I do not have time for break downs so Let’s get all the crying out of the way now 😂.
