So let’s get to the fun stuff . After my 40 decided to take a nap I jumped in with my friend in his 40 so I could help him and spot our other friend behind us . Both did great . After being on the trail 12 hours we got back to camp . I jumped in my truck and took off to go get my 40 . It’s about a 2 hour drive . Not more than a mile after I hit the pavement. . I get pulled over . She was super cool. I had a tail light out on my trailer I had no idea . Anyways I told her I was going to get my 40 sorry I looked like a homeless bum bla bla bla and off I went . I get to my 40 and it’s still there . The problem was I could not get my trailer backed up straight to it . No problem I can winch the trailer over . I turn my winch on and . My battery is dead wtf I have no idea why . Did I leave my radio on Who knows . Ok ok. I unhooked my truck and used my jumper cables , now I was able to winch the trailer over and winch up the trailer. When I was winching up the trailer it stood the trailer up this was to be expected but when it came back down boom my tongue Jack I believe this is the 4th one Bent . Ok no worries. The Jack is the last of my worries. Get my hi lift Jack and we are good to go . When I was pulling out I did not see a large rook on the passenger side and it caught the trailer . Ugg It was pitch black I could see nothing this entire time . Finally got it clear and get to the pavement again . Umm what is that sound. Wtf. Turns out I bent part of the fender into the tire . Couple pushes and kicks and we are off and running I noticed 1 of the rear tires looked low so I figured I will just hit the gas station 1 mile up the road. Go slow . I get to the gas station and the air is out of service . So I unhook my truck again and use my jumper cables and use my ARB. And pump up the tire . By the time I got back to camp I went straight over and got breakfast. At this point I decided to just go home a day early. Just take my time and cruise home . So we all said our good byes and a few of us headed out early . Before I left I checked all my tires and filled them up on the trailer . As I got into Truckee I noticed the rear tire was low again . At this point I am over this trailer . ( I was over this trailer the last time I used it also ). So I just drive to the tire store ( I knew right were it was because I was just there a few days ago getting lug nuts ). 1 pm on a Sat and they are closed. . Ok. Reno is 30 miles So I drive to a gas station fill the tire again and take off . I made it to Reno and Tire is flat again . Stop
At a gas station and fill lt again , this time I noticed where it was leaking and it would not stay inflated . I bust out my tire repair kit and go to work . 2 cans of slime 4 plugs and 4 dollars of air later I make it to discount tire . Get a new tire and I am off again It’s now about 4:30 . 22 miles out of Reno I watched another tire come apart . The entire tread just came off . Tire was still inflated though . At this point Discount was closed . Ok there is a Pep boys 17 miles away . I called and they had a tire. Now I just had to make it 17 miles in less than 1.5 hours . So I drove slow on my new steal belted tire and we made it . . 2 girls come out and asked if I could take the tire off . Umm sure . So I got the tire off and they put the new one on and I reinstalled it . It’s a little after 7 pm now . Let’s not forget I still had a light out on the trailer I should have been home hours ago already but I still had a 5.5 hour drive . I got home around 1:30 this morning . We made it . What a trip . If I do not cut that trailer up into small pieces it will be a miracle. Today I need to figure out how to get a dead 40 off it . And back in my garage. Then I can start to figure out what I have to work with . Other than all that. I had a great time. Really had fun in the 40. . Being able to drive it to town or when we just drove over to the Rubicon was just fun .

We've all had those days where nothing you do works and everything is against you. I know i've had quit a few of those . Only good thing about them is : when you finally make it home , you have great stories to tell and even you laugh at your own misfortune.

Na i had a great time . had some very unexpected things happen but Nothing that could not be fixed . this was the first time out for the 40 and overall it did great . There are a few things i will address but i fully expected this . its all just little things , and things i just want to make better . It takes time to get these things dialed in . And lets not forget Fordyce and the Rubicon are not just Fire roads . I think we had more fun driving from Fordyce over to the Rubicon Cruising through town ect with are hoodies on and gloves to stay warm lol I expected it to work on the trail. but had no idea really how it would do on the street. and it did great . Bummed a little i am missing the MC round up this weekend. but i need to get this thing ready for Rubithon in 2 weeks .

I have been cleaning. And cleaning and cleaning. And it’s still dirty But it’s getting almost clean again . Today I mounted my ARB switches into my tuffy box. Now I don’t have to open it to turn on and off my lockers

Ok little update . Put a new Injector in and it working great . Now its running like it did with a Carb. She is angry again . *** NOTE *** if you run a Holley Sniper make sure you look to see if all 4 injectors are working even if its brand new . It ran and it ran good but i was never overly impressed . Now she has some Go . I also installed a Fuel pressure gauge just for fun . I am going to go ahead and change the plugs also since they literally were soaked . I can not say i am really happy with Holley since i had to Buy a injector and i Had to fix this myself since i did not want to have to wait 10 weeks for them to fix my NEW system . But i think we have it now . Its running great . If she has 30 miles left in her all will be good . Heading back to Rubicon next week

Your story here reminds me, years ago I built a jeep, I didn't do the Rubicon with it but the Dusy Ershim. Anyway, I had a built 304 in there blueprinted balanced, mild offroad cam, headers,, yada yada. I put a Holley throttle body on it, it was new tech for them at the time. It took me forever to get the thing dialed in but once it was dialed,, it really worked great.

More Holley stuff ugg. . So i put the pressure gauge on and it was reading 80psi. supposed to be 60 . pull the cover off the pressure regulator to find a Oring that is not even close to the correct size . I actually layed out the old carb and Dist parts last night as i am almost over this . Called Holley first thing this morning and they are sending a new pressure Regulator and 0-ring ( i guess this is a common issue ) and also sending me a regulator for the fuel pump . Supposed to be here Friday. . Supposed to leave. Sat. hmm. I have zero trust in this setup. but i dont really want to pull everything and go back to a carb either at this point . I Also feel its BS that i have to fix this thing . I only need 30 miles out of it thats all i am asking

And you are good to go This makes it almost impossible to figure out what is going on . Then it’s a 10 week turn around to send it in . I have thought about just getting the sniper 2 but not sure I want to spend another 1500

it's one thing its acting up. its completely a different thing they expect you to remove it entirely and wait on them. absolute nonsense. especially when its a KNOWN problem

Trust me it’s BS what if this was my a daily driver I could have sent it in for the injector. Waited then got it back only to have another issue . I think they should either refund me or replace the unit . Personally I don’t really want a replacement since they have come out with a new version that supposedly fixes these known issues

Still on the fence if I should just swap back to my carb . Probably take me a few hours . I will try the sniper 1 more time and if it acts up again I will see what they plan on doing . 3600 bucks I should not be fixing there products or waiting 10 weeks

Sniper update #376 So I decided that I would be pushing my limits if I waited till Friday for the new parts to arrive. So I just ordered them from summit and they came yesterday. Put it back together and it runs great until you drive it . Just falls in it’s face . So I started over and got TDC re checked the distributor went through everything and everything is good. The sniper is reading good for everything Still falls on its face So today I called Summit and explained to them the situation and how I do not feel I should have to buy parts to fix something that is brand new let alone have to wait 10 weeks. I would be at 30 plus weeks now with each time . They said they would call Holley and call me back . 15 min later she called me back and said we are sending you a new unit . Unfortunately it will take 4 days to get here and I have Rubithon next week so I need to A: just go with it and hope for the best. It runs fine just crawling . Or B: pull everything and go back to a carb then change everything back in a week Summit rocks

I'm not sure which sniper unit you have, does it have datalogging capabilities through the SD card on the head display unit?
This may help to troubleshoot specific sensors.

I have this unit . Plus I also have the hyperspark distributor and ignition box and coil . It’s just been 1 issue after another. I am happy they are just replacing it . Holley would not but when I called Summit they took care of it .

Regardless of the replacement unit, it would be worth it to run some datalogs.
You can start/stop datalogs, then remove the SD card from the back upper left of the display and plug that card into a laptop.
The Holley EFI software on the laptop allows more adjustments/customization than the menus on the display unit.
