Curious, what does the fuel pressure say when its falling over itself ? Runs fine when crawl ( seems like fuel issue ) ? are all the injectors in that the same LB rating ?
 
Yes all are the same l00lb injectors . I agree it is a fuel issue of some sort . It’s just difficult to replicate it . I can not see the fuel pressure gauge while driving it . Bottom line it’s just a crap unit . You fix 1 thing and then you find the next . Definitely was built on a Monday or Friday 🤦🏻‍♂️ When I opened it up to find the wrong o-rings That was enough of messing with this one . New complete system is on its way . Unfortunately I have to make this work for about 30 miles 🙏. After that I have plenty of time .
 
When it works it works great . The problem is you never know when it’s going to crap out . And you can start it right back up and it’s fine . Prior to this it was fine but I always thought it was down on power for what I felt it should have . ( I never drove this rig before ) And then found that it was only firing on the 3 injectors . ( common problem) Fixed that problem and found the pressure regulator had a issue ( another common problem ) 🤦🏻‍♂️ .
 
For the record, we would love to see a video of you hot rodding around the town with no hood attached and your cell phone taped to a 2x4 pointed at the fuel gauge.
That is not going to happen . I don’t really like driving this on the street anymore than I need to . And I am not messing with this unit anymore . I will install the new unit and go from there . In fact I may not even install the new unit . And just pull everything Eng /trans / t case and start over
 
I am committed to a run next week. Otherwise I would just yank everything
 
Direct injection will be the biggest upgrade in the world. I'm so happy I pulled my sniper and sbc.

I got a squirt gun and will just spray as I need . I think that would be more reliable 🤦🏻‍♂️ I took it for a ride tonite . I would be a idiot to bring a vehicle that is running like crap and unpredictable to the rubicon. Plus I can’t be worried about if I can even make it when I have a large group and many first timers . I need to stay focused so at 9pm I pulled this pos
 
Got the carb back on 🤦🏻‍♂️ Everything fought me. 😡. If 1 person. Even thinks about complaining on this Rubithon trip I just may punch them in the face 😳. After what I have gone through to get this thing there . I got it all running good and noticed my fuel pump leaking 🤦🏻‍♂️🤬. Just went and bought a new one. Swap this out and give her a rip around the block load up and go 🙏.
 
Man this thing is just purring now :bang: I never drove it with a carb on it. Its as smooth as a Cadillac now . I am certain it wont be in the rocks but i can compensate there . More than likely i will just sell the brand new Sniper and leave the carb on this . Its drivable now and i will just start collecting the parts to put a LS in its also staying right around 190-200. crawling. and that is without the electric fan :oops:. That i can live with . With the sniper it would get hotter . I am 100 percent certain now the sniper was a bad unit . OK loading up and with any luck i will have a good report to give next Sunday . :steer:. If not there may be a 40 left on the Rubicon :rolleyes:
 
So the Carburetor did ok . Not great in off camber areas but I was able to compensate ( not hard to do with a Auto trans). I burned a full tank plus 5 gal . I also ran without the extra electric fan 🤔 ran around 200-210 at the highest so I am ok with that . But the carb just is not going to cut it . I got home to a big box at my door . Summit had sent me a complete new Sniper set up . Then I started thinking 🤔. And called them and asked. If I could just exchange this brand new unit for the New Sniper 2 since it’s fixed all these known issues 🤷‍♂️ They did not see that being a problem 😃. I also just got off the phone with the Holley Tech and he recommended I just run my HEI distributor. And not the hyperspark 🤦🏻‍♂️. For a off road rig you can get hei parts anywhere. Hyperspark not so much . So. I am
Going to give the sniper 2 a shot
 
It works really well To be honest Rubicon is kinda boring now 🤔. It just goes over everything. . Things I want to change 🤔. I think the front coilovers could use more damping . They ride fine but if I hit things at speed it will bottom out . The engine is fine. It’s more than powerful enough. It’s just been the fuel system that has been a issue . I need to get some rock lights on it build a drawer or platform for the rear area .

Good to hear. I agree with you on a regular old SBC being enough power for a trail rig. I hate how anemic mine is, but it goes over everything my suspension can handle, its far from my limiting factor. Look forward to seeing this thing on a trail in the future.
 
You already are set up for GM, just put a $300 5.3 in it with the stock PCM, you could do the whole thing for the cost of a Sniper or less
