Making some little tabs to hold the lines on isn't too bad. On old Chevys I used to take a little strip of 1/8th, bend it around my pencil, drill through the ends together and burn a short bolt to the top of the axle housing and use that to hold the lines. But I didn't have old ones to use that were any good.

Let’s slow things down a little 🤩. Georg @ Valley Hybrids turned this thing into a piece of Jewelry 😃

Beautiful!!! What ratios did you go with?
4:1 i have 488 gears and a TH 400 trans with a 2.75:1 low gear i have no clue what the final drive is ? but i hope it crawls good. The blue 40 has a 4:1 Orion. and 4.88 gears with a 4 speed its not as slow as i would really like. but i can put it in low and take my feet off the gas and clutch /brake and cruise through the rubicon. . Now with a Auto it will be interesting how it performs.

That should be pretty low. On the blue one, is it the factory 4 speed? I'm assuming so, because the SM465 1st gear is REALLY low. Factory 4 speed with all that on the blue one is 69.29. Final drive on this one should be 53.68 if I'm understanding this correctly. But with the auto, it will definitely perform differently, so I'm curious how it crawls in the wild. For comparison, my Cruiser last year was 35.82. This year it'll be 44.77.

I used this to check final drive when I'm curious about these things... Final Drive Ratio Calculator - Calculator Academy - https://calculator.academy/final-drive-ratio-calculator/

With a Auto its different. What i dont want is for it to drive through the brakes We shall find out pretty soon how it is . Its all just nuts and bolts if it ends up not working to my liking

I like this one more

Cool. I feel like I went overboard with my setup. It has 186.6:1 final drive 😬 I like your comment above. It’s all nuts and bolts.

i feel like i need to get close to 100:1. But i do fine in my FJc and it just has a stock t case and a auto trans

I was aiming for 150:1, which is still too low in hindsight. There was a mixup at the transmission shop and AA that got me to 187:1. I can drop my rear gearbox to 1.5:1 and achieve 132:1. 🤷‍♂️

What bore is your brake master? I like it and I’ll need something larger to work those 1-ton brakes.

1 inch. Non abs FJ 80.

FYI, I had this on my old ‘84 when I swapped to disc brake 60’s - and it wasn’t enough. At all. I went straight to GM master cylinder with an adapter. That did it. I have the same FJ80 master now though in my 40 with 60 axles and its enough.

You lost me here. so i Did not work but now it works ?

A FJ 80 comes with disk brakes. The MC does not know that it is in a FJ 40

backed her out today :steer:

Sorry, can see how its confusing. Let me try again.

When I did disc brake Dana 60’s under my old ‘84 pickup, the FJ80 1” bore master I had in the rig didn’t work. The Dana 60 calipers were too much for it. I had to use a GM 1 ton master cylinder with a Sky’s Offroad adapter. That worked MUCH better. However, that rig is gone, I now have a Fj40.

The current 40 has FJ60 axles and the same FJ80 master as the old rig started with. That FJ80 master is fine with the FJ60 axles. If I ever go one-tons, I’d do the GM master again.

Hope that makes sense and helps

I have FJ cruiser brakes on this .( Same as Tundra ) I was having a issue with the brakes feel. but i found a issue the front line is leaking so i need to fix that . Who ever owned this 40 before put lines in that had metric and standard . Why do people do things like this ugg . I will run ALL new lines I just needed to be able to have it stop well enough to drive on the trailer tomorrow so i can get the exhaust done Monday
