Couple recent things:
  1. Picked up a Ruger PC9 Carbine and a cheap Bushnell Red Dot.
  2. Put my Glock 45 back to its original barrel for concealed carry
  3. Moved my 9MM suppressor over to the Ruger.
  4. Have my Beretta Silver Pigeon up on consignment at Deep River Sporting Clays.
  5. Bought a Beretta X400 Xtreme Plus in Synthetic to replace above.
Pics to follow.

Opinions requested. I have a 13y/o that weighs about 85lbs soaking wet. I want to take him clay shooting. What do you recommend? I'm thinking about a youth 20ga 870. Any other ideas?

Tell me more!!

You bet!

2020 Beretta Silver Pigeon Sporting - ~ 100 rounds - like new - every/all parts etc. 30" barrel

MSRP is like $2350 - I believe I set my price at $1899.

I can check on "rules" for removing from the consignment if you are interested.

Thanks!

Hmmm, 30"er eh? Never shot that long of a barrel. Was this a 12 or 20?

30" barrel is preferred by most for trap an sporting clays. All three of our trap guns are 30"

Its a 12G.

O/H don't have the chambers like an Auto, so the barrels can be longer and keep the same balance, etc. Guessing my 28" Auto is longer than the 30" O/H. Not sure.

These things inspire confidence. A good used 12g kicks less than a "normal" 20g. I found myself hitting a lot more with one vs the O/H. 20g would be really nice for shooting, but harder to hit with at distance.

During the ammo shortage, I noticed everywhere I went there was 7.62x39 on the shelf. I picked up an inexpensive AK-47 for a SHTF contingency. I put 20 rounds through it but have since purchased a 7.62 AR platform and really don't need both.

This isn't my ad but it is identical to this: I.O. IO I O Inter Ordnance ak47 ak 47 rifle 7.62X39 rifle Sporter penny - Semi Auto Rifles at GunBroker.com : 883776788
American made Inter Ordnance (IO or I.O.) Sporter AK-47 in 7.62x39
I paid $750 and would like to get my money back but make me an offer. I'll definitely have some consignment or auction costs if I can't sell locally and can save you tax, shipping and credit card fees over an online sale. Must be Face-to-Face transaction with appropriate ID and bill of sale.

Curiosity, what AR platform did you go with on the 7.62? I've been debating an AR10 build, but just haven't pulled that trigger because they all have their little things that make them different.

I was actually looking for a Ruger mini-30 but found a used AR pistol in 7.62 - Anderson Manufacturing lower, PSA upper with a 10.5" BA barrel at a price I couldn't pass up. Not a dream build by any means but decent enough for me. Again, the primary goal was a 7.62x39 for ammo availability. I'm just much more familiar with the AR platform over the AK, hence the change... I've still got my eyes out for a mini-30 but haven't seen anything under $1,200 and I just don't want to tie that much up in this project. Can't say enough good things about my BPM in 300 blk though, phenomenal quality locally made at a decent price point.

I am on the hunt for a .308 or 6.5 creedmoor for a longer range rifle so I've looked at a few AR-10's. Would love to hear your thoughts on your build plan...

We just Hired an older retired gentleman in our office. Will be doing my job now that I am retiring. He moved in to his desk and brought a few of his trophies to put on his desk. He does a lot of trap and sport clay. Apparently he is pretty good. Says that he only took the job so he can support his shooting habit. Apparently on average he shoots about 800 rounds a week.
I know nothing about clay shooting but it’s sounds fun from hearing him to all about it.
nothing related to you all’s conversation just thought I would share my little story.
Carry on.

@SFROMAN You are welcome to come over and shoot here at the house if you like. Just let me know and we can schedule a time. We have three trap guns so one of them should suit you. We are laid back so you can choose how you want to try it etc with zero pressure.

I knew a few guys that went through that kind of round count a weekend at the Buncombe County Wildlife Association when I was a member there up the mountain. They shot competition as well. Some of those guys could go all day and not miss a clay. I fully understand the job to support the habit. 250 rounds is about $60.00

First, rumors of my death are greatly exaggerated  . Just staying busy making ugly accessories for heeps ....
I have made a decision to consolidate my hunting arms / ammo so I have a rifle for sale ... thought I would list it here in case there is any interest among hunters here.

Remington Model 7 Stainless Synthetic in .308. Burris Fullfield II 3-9 scope with Ballistic Plex scope. I have about 300 rounds of ammo to go with it. This is a great compact rifle, I just find myself picking up others instead of this one. It has a really nice trigger job done to it by a now deceased gunsmith in Columbus GA. If you have some interest, drop me a line.
