I did 4.88s and ARBs in my runner when i finally fixed my busted ring gear. The install was super easy. I was surprised. Everyone makes such a big deal out of it but its not that bad

What trail did you break on?

Looks like it'll buff out.

Ouch! How'd you manage to do that?

Been there done that got the shirt...

Looks like its time for Nitros and ARBs!

Yeah I forgot about lockers while you are there :hillbilly:

The thought had crossed my mind :hmm:

I was actually surprised how easy it was to remove the ring ... really the hardest was disassembling the parking break to pull the axles away from the diff ... we didn't even try putting that back together yet so I'm without a parking break now :hillbilly:

Buckhorn North I believe tall steap hill is about a 4◇ right now ...

I goosed it a bit too hard trying to go over a step and the bouncing put too much strain on it I guess

Yeah, the hop is a death nell to the FJ, 4R, GX, Tacoma :(

Sorry you broke. Pretty sure you can unbolt the rear hub from the housing and not have to pull the e-brake.

Interesting. Would be curious as I have done the e-brake method and the bolt off method on FJs.

i think the way the brake lines were mounted was the issue ... if i remember correctly it was either disconnect the brake lines and have to top them off and bleed them or unhook the e-brake

Here some happier pictures before I broke ... I don't have may of myself but others have some that I'll retrieve. ..

We may have been able to do it with the brakes attached come to think of it. When I started tearing my side down I was under the imperssion we'd have to disconnect the brake lines and re bleed everything. I also wasnt sure the axle would pull out with the hard line still attached, but unbolting the bracket that held the line to the axle gave just enough room to disengage the axles.

Oh and I would like to give a report for my first offroad excursion :

before the rear diff blew ... The Gentleman Performed almost effortlessly ... suspension and shocks were smooth and plush ... no rubbing issues at all ... Tires performed great ... i even slowly tagged a small tree with the driver side wing of the front bumper bc i wasnt playing attention lol and of course it held up just fine with no damage and didnt scratch my paint bc there is non to scratch ;)

and we could have un hooked the abs plug on my side so it would rip the wires out when he pulled axles back lol

eh hem, I did un-hook my abs line... You didnt read the instructions.

I was pleasantly surprised when you followed me into that first interesting 3.5 star section Friday. I looked in my rear view and saw that raw steel glinting in the sunlight and thought, "Well damn...."
