Builds The Dune cruiser - My 2004 Build Thread

Purchased in Georgia for the wrong price at the right time. As I drove it home I came up with my shortlist. Then my long list. Now the work begins.

First things first, CV axles may not have been maintained by the PO. So new CV axles from Toyota and a couple hours of knuckle busting.

Why Dune you ask.

I have a 1997 Land Cruiser that is desert dune and I am confident that it is the BEST color for a Land Cruiser. It's nice and cool to the touch in the hot summer heat of Florida. It doesn't show when you get a few pinstripes while driving the off road trails of Northern Georgia. I love the blue land cruisers too, but they would be too hot in the Florida heat. And most of all, because I'm a decadent American and I CAN.

As you can tell from the pictures, the PO was a little lightheaded. Ordered new mirror to replace this thing. Why do people do things like this???

New mirror, color coded to match, but it will be painted. Go figure.

There were some interesting looking fender flares. Apparently they were installed at the port. 1/3 of them were missing so I removed the rest.

Ordered the weatherstripping and picked it up today.

Off to the paint shop today.

Picked up the front and rear Rear ARB bumpers. Then dropped off to paint shop. They will be painted to match. Ouch.

I wish it was mud. It’s some kind of terrible glue adhesive crap. Solid like bondo. So off it goes.

Nice ! Would love to be able to justify a full paint on my 100 (nardo gray or cement gray) What was your paint investment for the truck minus the ARB armor?

Is that your shop? I have two small rust sport where I took the plastic wheel fenders off that I have been wanting to touch up.
