Valid point there. I think the proper mounting with hydraulic mounts is the best you can do. But, I was curious since I hadn't seen many on 4bts.

A harmonic balancer changes the point of destructive harmonic resonance, as in when the harmonics of the rotating assembly reach a frequency where damage occurs. The harmonic balancer is there to protect the motor by reducing vibrations, therefore helping the motor's bearings last longer. It has the side effect of decreasing vibes felt in the truck.

I recommend running a harmonic balancer, the bigger the better.

With the external voltage regulator giving me issues unless it was connected directly to the battery and directly connected to the battery it pulls 3A and will deplete the battery. So I decided to add a relay and use the ign source for the relay with normally closed to the regulator. And since I was on the wiring kick I ordered up marine grade wire, lugs, and a blue sea 12 circuit fuse box. Ran 4ga dedicated from the alternator to the battery and a 4ga to the fuse block. All lugs were soldered on and not crimped. I hate crimped lugs. And ample heat shrink.

Looks nice. One thing to consider is a wire connection that is solely soldered can come loose if you have momentary short; in this situation the solder can melt from the heat from the short, and then the lug can separate from the cable. For the larger gauge lugs you might consider both soldering and crimping your lugs to get the mechanical connection.

Here is some discussion:

Here is the lug crimper I bought.

Is this going to be ready for the LSLC Round-Up?

So, where ya at now?

Being lazy...

OK back finally on the cruiser!! Finally! Life and other things kept me crazy busy. Need to get the shocks done and an air filter. I have my bump stops extended in the front. I made an extension. I'm 1.5" away from the ubolt plate. Hoping I didn't go too close. But the leafs are already relatively flat. I have the tall shock hoops from Marlin. They recommend Bilsteins, anyone have some ideas on which way I should go on shocks?

I know man! I feel like it's been so long!! *cries* Sweetness!! Thinking 5125's too.. 14" in the front and 10" in the rear. How much space do you have between your bump stop and your ubolt plate?

OK so last night I tossed on my new front side markers and pulled my water pump off to clean and recheck the o-ring. Think it has a small leak coming out, might be replacing that puppy. Looks like it is coming out of the weep hole, so the o-ring on the shaft is giving it up

Today I thought I would get inspired and take it around the neighborhood for a spin. :steer: Again, my fuel cut-off on me and my inline filter gets some crud in it but not enough to stop the flow. I don't think I need an inline pump.. Anyone with a 4bt had that issue? I'm dreading it but I might have to pull the tank and get it dipped. Maybe it just has that much stuff that gets tossed around as it gets to sloshing. Luckily I was heading home and was going downhill and could coast.

This is how she looks right now:

Looks good. I run the 4bt piston lift pump and have no issues. Maybe the diesel is just loosening up the crud in the tank. Buy some cheap fuel filters and just swap them out more frequently.

Where is the inline filter? Have any issues with the motor losing prime after sitting for a while? Have you replaced the lift pump or is it old?

Dave: I've been using cheap filters. The one I put on was new and only made it down the road an 1/8 mile and back. I thought the lift pump would do fine, it seems to as I'm in the shop or driveway. But the cheapo filter gets drained empty. So I took it off and added an electric fuel pump and drained 5 gal out.. not one hiccup so the filter isn't clogging it. Could I be needing to add an electric fuel pump or could the pump on the motor be getting air locked at the top as I get to using diesel (down the road)? If I didn't pull 5 gallons out I would be thinking the tank. I have a new fuel filter on the motor.. so either air somewhere or the tank just has something that clogs the line every so often. I think I'm going to drop the tank and get it cleaned and blow my lines out just to rule that out... Thoughts?

GLTHFJ60: No issues sitting.. it starts all the time fine.

Here is a pic of the filter and where I have it sitting. If I leave it off after it is empty, it will fill back up..

I've definitely clogged a few of the cheap filters from crud in the tank. But this one was a fresh one..

If adding a fuel filter fixed your problem, then the issue might be that your lift pump can't suck fuel through your filter. I don't have any issues with my lift pump pulling fuel up from my tank, but I don't have an inline filter.

Looks like I just have too much crud in the tank. I've got a clean replacement tank that I'm going to clean up and swap in.

So I ended up getting my buddy's forklift and we did some measuring for shocks. Kept thinking we were going to dump her over. The fronts will fit the 14" 5125s perfectly. But on the back I'm wondering if I can do 10" or if I should try to fit a 12" in there. Here are some of the shots:

It has some glass now! Front bumps look like the perfect length, just a hair past flat but it will be ok. What about the rear? how flat were they? and whos forklift? Gary buy a new toy?
