Got the slider bases and A pillar contraption welded together. This part is on for good now. I’ve got 2 l gas holding it all together to the frame currently. The end result will have multiple more at various angles to triangulate, as well as the lowers being done for boat side skids.

Today I got the B pillar plan mostly figured out and started making the sliders to be able to attach it. Should have a lot more progress tomorrow with the current direction.

Great progress, great pictures, I find it interesting what the walls would say if they could talk….especially that one off to the left…the sticker…. “I have no penis”…??? I hope that’s not like a Mud initiation thing or something, I’m kinda new around here still…

Hahahahahha! That is actually a magnet. There used to be an event called GoneMOAB. 2014 was my first year to attend, and the last year to have shenanigans such as magnets. Rules are, the last rig to have the magnet after a certain time on the Friday of the event, had to keep it until the next event. Good times!

Great story.
The older I get the more I think I just do stuff to be able to tell a story.
Good memories there though.

Typical to this build, started the day with a clear vision. That slowly adapted as the pieces went together. But, the B pillar main bars are on, just need to finalize the passenger slider. The end of tonight, I got the rear of cab design flowing, and should be pretty sweet once done. Not sure I’ll get much done on it tomorrow before I go to work for the night, but the next 4 day off will have a good amount of progress for sure. I’ll need to run for gas and wire on the first day, once one runs out. Probably right away!!!

But alas……

Where do you get your gas? I’ve been using a cash oil rig account out of Weld County at Airgass in Firestone and they have charged $35 for a 125 cu ft refill.

Cage is looking good!

How much do they charge? I don’t like Airgas. They always charge a charge $150 and then reduce the price to $35. I don’t like playing that game.
I don’t recall at the moment. But I’ll be there on Tuesday or Wednesday, will report back.

I like how your tube work is coming together. Any tips/tricks that you've learned with the bender? I just picked one up a couple months ago and am almost ready to start bending.

Thats a better in person convo. But. Watch the Rogue YouTube videos multiple times. Draw it out a few times to make sure you’re going the right way. Trust their calculators on the design page of their website. I’d be happy to chat you through any hiccups though. Dm me, I’ll give you my number.

If you ever have a really funky set of bends you need done, shoot me a PM with angles and lengths. I can toss it into bendtech and spit out a complete bend sheet.

Well, the cage is progressing. The roof X bars are on. Everything that’s in, is full welded. It’s been an arduous process making decisions on where to place stuff based on safety, as well as esthetic’s. Safety always first, but all of this is the body, so I want it to look good. The odd 2 pillar wrap around corner really throws you for a loop in this aspect! But I also need to stop building an Ultra4 cage! It’s recreational Joe!

Today through Sunday’s goals are :

-A pillar grab handle gussets
-rear corner lower 90*s
-a few different braces/gussets
-rear floor supports, possibly even sheet the rear floor
-decide on what to do about an Earnhardt bar, or not.

But…..I’m just about out of tube.

I also still need to make the passenger seat mounts. Weld in my doubler shift bolt access hole cover. Re do the seat belt mounting points. Make a decision on what to do with the dash, and then execute. Also need to get a better set of gauges, cuz these cheap Amazon ones ain’t it. LS swap, rear bed layout.

Lots to come! The bed is gonna be cool.

Well. I’m a liar. Haha. I decided to do the a pillar door hinge tie in points. This was especially necessary, cause it turns out the right side firewall/a pillar structure was sagging and leaning forward. These use the cage to keep the factory a pillars upright. Not going to claim correctly, as the further I get into this rig, the worse the crooked seems to span. I have a feeling this thing was in a bad wreck.

Anyhow, it’s sad how slow this stuff goes. The tie ins started with me press bending some flat stock I had, but I wasn’t happy with the look. So I switched to some 4”x.25” angle. It’s not as sleek as the bent flat seemed to look in my head, but it works.
