Some of those Porsche (namely 356 restos) restorations are bananas.
The Elvis BMW 507 was wild too.
Glad we don't need to go that crazy.
My painter is an old school Polish guy.....he knows 356s and 911s inside and out. Literally. He was working on them as a kid. Knows how Porsche put them together, where they got things wrong, where to make changes to correct, etc. His rotisserie jobs are really impressive....and some of those cars start off really in rough shape. What's really cool is how they finish them.....they match all the factory coatings, seam sealers, etc. The last one we did with him was a 993 wide body speedster recreation...watched him chop the windshield off it! Too cool.
When I first started using him way back, he had a 550 Spyder body on a pair of saw horses. It was a racing body as I recall and had a lot of crappy repairs that had been done over time. That aluminum body was so thin, you could push on it and dent it. He had been working on it for years. I think that car ended up in Seinfelds collection eventually. Too cool.
