D'oh! I have a 64 rear crossmember!
Nice work! Did you grind out all the rivets in the crossmember, or do you have an air chisel?
I may have to replace the rear crossmember on my '65, but won't know for sure until I get it all blasted.
Where does one buy a rear crossmember for an early FJ40? The only place I've found one is on Ebay and it was about $150. Most of the ones I see have the big rectangular holes for tail lights.
Mark, i will do a better job posting in the classifieds and looking next time. Thanks for keeping me in the loop. I actually didn't even think of buying one this time. I wanted to use heavier channel and recess a 2" receiver hitch. And since my sill was shot I did all of it and body mounts together out of my work metal shop and home. Mine needs a little more fab work to look original at the spring hangers but I really like the heavy channel and factory look.
My guess would be to just put a cap on it.
The carb is not responding to acceleration when I put pressure on the pedal fast. Kind of dies. I rebuilt the carburetor. I thought it was the acceleration pump but I don't think there is any adjustment in the rod.
When I feather the pedal it will slowly accelerate without any problems. When I adjust the idle higher, it seems to run fine when I accelerate fast? Any suggestions?
I think it's starving for fuel. Adjust your float to the proper level.
So can someone tell me what the original carburetor(s) would have been for the 1962 FJ40 ? Would be great if someone had pics and some instruction on how I identify the two carbs I do have, and whether or not either is original. Also - will a carb from a 1F-135 motor fit the intake on a 1F-155 motor ? Thanks ...
