Rookie error??

The shaft nut is left hand thread. I did the same to the first one I stripped down.

Nah lol I did double check after the fact.. I'd rebuilt the ct26 on my last 80 about 3 months ago haha

Ah well, maybe just me who's a heavy handed gorilla! What you can't fix with brains, you can fix with brawn, right?

Good time to go for mamba upgrade then. lol

There is a guy in Adelaide selling what looks to be a genuine ct20b for $500 on Facebook today, someone could have some fun with that.

I used their 11 blade extended tip wheel for the 7m after I damaged my stock comp wheel.

Hey mate, just checking this is the one?

That looks like the one mate, you can double check the sizing against the Mellet turbo spec sheet posted way back near the start of the thread. Or I'll check for you when I get home.

This is from back in page 19.
Has anyone confirmed what turbine is in the FTE turbo?
Would it be possible the used turbine and shaft are from a MR2 CT20B and the CHRA is from a 1HD-FTE CT20B?

Has anyone here got a genuine CT20B apart?

Here on Ebay is a shaft and wheel with a good turbine design: Toyota CT20B (Small CT26) Turbine wheel & Shaft STEEL

Here also on Ebay is a CHRA purported to be genuine showing the terrible paddle-wheel turbine design: Toyota Turbocharger Core Assembly CT20B Landcruiser 17202-17040 / 17201-17040

And anyone want to try a VNT CT26 turbo?

Hi fellas, I've been running my Mamba rd05-18g 8cm for about 10months now. No problems gate at 15psi, even with a boost leak until recently...
It goes much better now with 3in exh. I have 2 turns fuel out, w/a ic, vy ss air box. Never seen temp above 500c, I don't really push the bus that hard. It'll spool to 25psi real easily with gate unplugged. I'm just worried about the gearbox now
I'm running an adapter 15mm thick to run a t3 flange, I bought a td42 version incase I wanted to try a different turbo.
Cheers!

I forgot to add. Boost sits on 5psi at 100kmh it will jump to 10psi with slight load. 4~5psi sitting on 60kmh in 4th gear, 33in 4.11 final, it will jump to 7~8psi with acc pedal. The boost stays high if I'm rowing through gears. Turbo is sluggish when manifold is cold, such as traffic lights and motor warming up. Turbo beanie has helped to keep the heat, I'm sure the spacer dosnt help with heat transfer. I might add a bit of weld to one of the sides to join the metal from manifold. I found that you need big intake from turbo to airbox. I noticed the motor choking for air when 3in pipe went longer than 400mm, so I opted to start my 4in piping to air box sooner. 90deg bends in the intake sistem will affect this.

Mr Dougal, you're a champion for the contribution you make! Thank you for sharing your info and actual data for the topic. Two thumbs up!!

I went and changed a couple of things on the set up. I removed the caked up glow screen., idle sounds better.
I went and tapped the glow screen holder for pressure reference for the gate and compensator, much better for running no smoke and rev rises cleaner. I had the reference from the IC before. I 've finally wound out the boost fuel all the way out as well. Smokes a little then clean after about 1second, still on 15psi. I added a bigger water res 12 litres for IC as well. 300c at 100kmh @6psi, 270 at 80, 200 at 60 @4psi. The EG will jump 50 to 100c when I floor it.
I also found out that I had the 16g instead of 18g. I forgot I went smaller comp but bigger 8cm exh housing for sand driving.
I bet 7cm TD05-16g from mamba will be better suited for 12ht for most applications and they have

Toyota flange on already. Here's the daytime pic.

The roo bar is from a wrecked VE Ute, B&S spec by tuff bullbar. The Ute was rolled and totalled. I bought it cheap from the wreckers after a Hyundai decided to pull out in front of me without looking in the mirror... The insurance payed out and now my hj61 is literally a free car!

That turbo looks sweet .. !
They do mate, it's a shame to cover it up. It's rated to 30psi. It comes alive past 8psi, the boost needle moves twice as fast. It has a 80's turbo car 'flavour' about it. The way the needle swang past 25psi, I believe it can hold it there if you wanted. I set mine at 15psi.
It came with 5 different tensioner spring for the actuator to set boost, all gaskets and lines. I got the one for TD42 so I had to get couple of adapters for fittings, but if you get one from Mamba to suit your motor, it'll be a bolt on turbo with factory air pipes too.
I don't think the 12ht needs an IC desparately with a big exh housing. Egt's are pretty low, especially in milder climates.
My second turbo from the company, I bought a Kinugawa T67 trust spec for my petrol GQ patrol years ago. Boss of Kinugawa sold his share and started Mamba, I think. You'll notice some similarities as they are both made in the Mitsubishi factory in Taiwan from memory.
I do drive it like a truck, coasting and rarely using the brakes. I'm enjoying this HJ61 quite a bit now.
