Thanks Katter, Did your custom compressor housing take 7mgte wheel or tdo5h 16g wheel? Where did you get the compressor housings done by? Sumalaya?

They were for a custom 16G wheel i asked to be made with a taller blade height and extended tips.
Yes Sumalaya, but don't expect to buy a 1 off. They want batches of 10pcs at a minimum.

7M turbs turned up last week, keen to get this on the truck and running :D

Edit... Been reading some older posts and have questions...

Do I want to use the 7M CHRA, turbine, comp wheel and comp cover? or just the comp wheel and cover?

Simplest swap over will be to use the 7mgte chra and front compressor housing. Swap the rear to 1hdt housing.
You'll need to remove the compressor housing too and do a couple of minor mods so you can rotate the housing to suit.

Assuming the 7mgte turbo is in good nick

7M turbo is unknown at the stage, but I'll ask my mate and make a decision form there.
So you're saying not to use the original 1hd chra and turbine housing?

You can use either CHRA. Use the compressor housing, comp wheel from the supra for sure, they are the same turbine wheel, use the 1hdt turbine housing.
I would get the turbo components properly balanced. Worth the money opposed to paying for a new engine...

Awesome cheers!
I'll out a rebuild kit through the 7m turbs, then Send it off for balancing then fit it up with the original turbine housing.

Cheers lads!

I'd recommend a 360 degree thrust washer and the appropriate collars needed in your rebuild kit. If your going to push this turbo to higher boost pressures 15lb+

NO worries thanks for the tip! They are pretty safe when built correctly arent they?

What sort of boost can I push it to without risking damage?

If it's rebuilt, individually and component balanced I would run 20lbs. You'll hit a point where the turbo will be out of efficiency range (it is just pushing hot air to a point) and it won't really benefit.

If possible get your 1HDT compressor housing bored out to match the 7MGTE compressor wheel. This makes the turbo a bolt-in option. If you use the 7MGTE compressor housing you have to clock it and fabricate something to hold the waste gate actuator. A friend of mine (machinist) bored out his 1HDT compressor housing and had a drawing made. If you need the drawing let me know and I'll see if I can get it and post it here.

My mate has a cnc mill and might be able to do it for me. If you're able to share the drawing that would be insane! If not then I can pull the comp cover off and give him both with the instruction to 'make that one look like this one' lol

Post the drawing for those interested....

Well s***.... Nut was seized onto the shaft, and the shaft sheared when I leaned on it... Then nek minnut :(

That wheel has rubbed the housing anyway. It's no great loss.

Time to follow my lead and try a mamba comp wheel maybe? Still haven't got my turbo fitted, chasing high egt's that have developed when under load. Want to get that sorted before I upgrade.

Yep been on the mamba website looking at options...

Dougal it had maybe 5mm play front to back lol. Not surprised it was rubbing haha

Do I just order the replacement 7m wheel? Or get something else?

I used their 11 blade extended tip wheel for the 7m after I damaged my stock comp wheel.
