Yes, it's looking like I need another 1/2 inch of length on that line. I may just bend the tab that secures it to give it a little slack. I jacked the front up and moved the tires in both directions and the line doesn't get stretched any more than it shows here, but I'll do something to give it some slack.

I adjusted the brake line mounting tab (with a hammer) and that seems to have been enough to relieve the tension on that flex brake line.

That is often my tool of choice too.... I've always felt that if my car can't be fixed with a hammer it is too complicated.

Sorry about the hijack of your thread in advance, gswest !

I'm pretty sure that is the petrol return line-not used in the diesel.

Josh

Josh, do you perhaps have a pic showing Lexie's OEM setup in this regard ? It seems the setup in Olive has been wrong all along - probably caused by the Aussie Longranger tank setup.Having gone to EFI, I need to change my setup to be non diesel but I am finding it difficult to get reliable info ??

I took the starter apart to see if there were any obvious issues needing attention. I also wanted to clean it up before I installed it. There was a ton of grease and grime, but I couldn't see anything that was broken. I'm admittedly not an electronics expert, so I'll put some juice to it before I re-install it.

She turns over on the bench, so we'll call it good! Install it tomorrow and start on the wiring harness.

Does anyone know where to get the O ring for the centrifugal oil filter? After installing the starter, I realized I still haven't found that O ring. Those centrifugal oil filters aren't very common over here, just like the rest of the 2H.

If it is an ordinary O-ring, try any good engineering shop.

Over here most shops stock both metric and imperial sizes but there's a limit to how large their stock goes up to.

Large O-rings can be made by obtaining O-ring stock of the correct section, cutting it to length, and accurately supergluing together the cut ends. (This is not a mickey-mouse way of making an O-ring. It is considered proper engineering practice and I've never seen the glued ends start to separate even after years of service.)

Take in the used O-ring as a sample. Or if you don't have it, take in the components the O-ring sits on/in.

Thanks Lostmarbles, I think when I removed the filter assembly originally, I found the seal had been wound with some type of binding, apparently to make it seal better. I'll take the seal around and see if I can get a good fit. Meanwhile, I realized that if I want to start installing the wiring harness, I probably should get as many of the accessories and electrical components connected. The EDIC unit was easy, so it got cleaned up and installed first.

I imagine you are referring to the part in the following diagram termed 'packing' (part number 15545-77010). You might want to try a supplier in Europe, Japan, or Australia.

Yes, that's the o-ring I need. I tried RooDogs (AU) and they didn't have them. Do you have any online sources in Japan or Europe?

I sent an email to Japan 4X4; we'll see.
I started cleaning up the blower motor and ordered the restoration kit from SOR. All it is is the foam seals, which are totally gone.

I got some feedback from Dave Stedman (Toyota 4X4) and he's working on the centrifugal oil seal and a few other hard to find Toyota diesel parts for me. So, while I'm waiting for the blower seal kit from SOR, I cleaned and painted the blower assembly. I primed the plastic housing with a plastic primer, then painted it with a high temp grey paint. It looks somewhat like the original plastic grey, but not totally original. I'm OK with the difference. After painting every other metal part of this particular assembly, I think it'll look nice. We can always start over...Not!

Dave Steadman from Japan4X4 is getting me that O-ring for the centrifugal filter and he's getting me a new radiator overflow/washer fluid tank. So thanks Hanry James the 47th for the tip.
I got the foam sealing kit in, so the blower got installed.

Looks fantastic.

I got the voltage regulator and oil pressure sending unit cleaned up and installed. The turbo gets it's oil from the adapter fitting going to the oil pressure sending unit.

Forgot about these little fuel injection line brackets. You can't get the bottom half on if the lines are already installed, Duh!
Looks like I get to take the lines off,,,,again.
