Some of this is cool, some of this is kind of sad.

Give me a few minutes and I'll get to pictures of the actual bags of parts.

UPS, it seems, likes to throw real heavy boxes or drop them a long long ways. I've never understood it.

So, when I came home from work, I found this sitting in my garage.

I'm assuming that the big box left American Toyota in perfect shape. UPS only had it 3 days.

They apparently managed to drop it far enough and hard enough to blow the bottom out of the box. They then delivered it upside down and open. I wasn't home at the time.

The UPS delivery guy told my wife, "I don't know why anyone would ship stuff so heavy in a box so old and beat up."

So, I looked at the boxes and walked away for a while. It was rather heart breaking to think that such a cool bit might be toast due to some package sorting machine gone awry. After a 4 hour cool down period I came back and started sorting through the carnage.

So, one box got beaten a bit harder than the others. I started there. Its a credit to TRD that this piece survived. It had room in the box and apparently landed so hard it pierced the box with one of the brass connectors. Through the little box AND the packing crate.

CONGRATS!!! hope it gets better from here. And i know your feelings for big brown, they only destroyed two gas tanks in shipping to me.:bang:

That was the worst of the damage that I was able to see. Now that we're through the sickening part, on to the fun stuff.

I never knew that the SC fans looked like that. Some pretty stickers to boot. I'm not sure yet where I'm going to stick the puffy ones that say, "Supercharged" on them.

And the finale...

So, did they always print the serial number on the under/inside the SC?

All boxes leave American Toyota the way they came to us--completely perfect packaging.

We do not open any of the S/C boxes before they leave us. They leave in the packaging they arrived to us in.

Please feel free to make a claim if you feel the product came damaged.

We are good for it.

;)

Congrats on the purchase.

I know you are. I have always been impressed with American Toyota's packaging and follow through.

The man in brown though could use a quick refresher of how to treat other people's toys.

So far it looks like the boxes did their job. I.e. the boxes suffered horribly while saving the stuff inside them. The mill itself was packed in form-fit expanded foam bags and very secure. The pipes were in the upper part of the box when it took the hit. The weird flange thing with the 3 brass ports and the actuator seemed to be the most vulnerable. Even it got lucky though and landed with the actuator up.

I'm even fairly sure that I have everything. I have not done a complete inventory yet though and there isn't time yet tonight. Hopefully there is a full listing in the white envelope.

I know it was pretty when it left your shop Beno. You guys rock.

Oh, and I'm curious. Is that my serial number or a generic part number on the inside of the SC?

If it is the serial, its kind of cool to have it end in 001. If it isn't the serial, does anyone know where it gets put on these?

Thanks!

Congrats on the new toy!

I don't think UPS is any better/worse than FedEx, DHL, USPS, et al when it comes to getting your package there in one piece. I'm sourcing custom corrugate right now for an industrial printer that is around 80 lbs. The corrugate company thinks my requirements are overkill, after seeing your post here, I think they just about right!

Please for the love of God put it on a dyno before/after :grinpimp:

I'm still not decided on ordering one or not.

This SC pkg still contains the ringed fan that is inappropriate and does not cool as well as the stock fan?

So, there is the added mod of getting a 3.slow fan and cutting the shroud + possibly aux electric fan?

I'm getting that lined up. It will be a 2WD dyno though, so it will be with the front drive shaft removed, CDL locked. The dyno before/after is going to cost me $150 though so I'm still debating a bit on whether to do it.

Install won't be for another month. I'm doing a preventative head gasket job on it at the same time, so I'm waiting for a good slot/time in a better garage than mine.

Someone (Landtank?) had mentioned wanting some measurements on the new run Superchargers. If someone wants measurements of this or that, let me know in this thread and I'll get out the tape.

Thanks,

Grench

Oh hell, the gig is up. That box is way too big, the :princess: is definitely going to know there is something very expensive inside there. I can't wait to tear mine open next week.

It's good to hear that it appears that nothing critical is broken. UPS definitely isn't scared to throw a package or two around, but like others have mentioned I have had similar experiences with other carriers. In fact a few months ago I received an empty envelope that once contained a $50 textbook, with a little note of how sorry they were for losing the book and that USPS strives to take care of their customers. Luckily paypal took care of it.

It's hard to tell because of the bubble wrap, but is that an affirmative that the new S/C fans are the same lame ringed fan like the old ones?

Just do it man. Everybody is doing it is the cool thing to do. **Flashbacks of peer pressure in Jr. High**

It is a ringed fan. I do not have an old one to compare it to, so I can't tell you if it is just like the old ones or not.

What is the thing with the 3 brass fittings? I don't remember that piece on mine.

I was looking it over inspecting it for damage and wondering the same thing. What is this piece? I suppose it would help if I actually looked through the printed materials. I should have some time to do that this weekend.
