Stumbled across this on an AutoTrader.com post. Not interested in Satellite, but this looks like it would be a great way to put a remote HAM Radio head. Anyone ever seen something like this?

Nope, haven't seen it, but that's very nice.

Wonder if it's a custom one-off or was mauf'd production.

I recall seeing somebody mount their HAM unit up there on MUD. Don't remember when or where I saw it but I'm positive I've seen it done. Haven't seen that plastic piece though, that looks pretty neat.

If anyone decides to do this and parts with their sunglass holder, I am interested in the holder

That looks really nice! I'm pretty sure somebody out there is making these. Does the 200 Series have a sunglass holder of similar size? I wonder if it's a OEM Toyota part from another vehicle that is a direct fit, or close fit.

I would think this has high 'group buy' potential if someone has the skills/connections for a small production run.

Is there a difference between the sunglasses holder and the garage door opener? I hate the hole in my console from where the garage door opener is supposed to sit... Maybe I just need a garage!

When homelink came out they no longer needed a pocket for the opener so they switched that space to a sunglass holder.

I want a sunglasses holder for my 98 too! I don't have a garage and it's pointless to have that door opener slot up there

This would be a great 3d printed part , any one have the skills?

I've got solidworks and access to several 3D printers and 3D scanners and a FARO arm. Just don't have time :) I put my Ham speaker there and had considered 3D printing a custom replacement with speaker grill.

I think I have access to a 3d printer but I don't know what kind of material it prints, nor do I have the skills to make a template.

So what exactly do people want? A place to mount a ham radio? I use a company called solid concepts all the time. They can print stuff out of sintered steel, aluminum and titanium as well as all other plastics.

I've wanted to do this myself so maybe after November I'll throw something together. I'm busy with work until December.

I will scan my cover and convert it to a solid surface and then modify for a radio slot.

I'd be happy with a sunglasses holder. Anyone know if the 03 or whatever year plus will work with my 98 that just came with a garage door opener blank ?
