wow stevo.......
I havent been here in a while. things are progressing here. Black would be sweet. I just got finished with my buddy steves 60 vortec 5.3 project. we painted his rig metallic black. Hes an old school 80's rocker so it is very befitting too. it looks awesome black and even more awesome with that generation 3 vortec sitting in there too.
Nice work stevo.!!

I'm not going to go flat black, the final coat is going to be high gloss. That's just primer.
I'm not looking to spend a ton of money on the paint, if I was going for a nice resto I would do a classic color, this is going to be for wheeling.

Also got some engine work started tonight. I replaced the manifold gasket, and removed the stock PS pump and air pump.
In their place I've swapped in a saginaw pump and a large case ford alternator for some OBW.

Nice work on the alternator setup. Word of advice, ditch the stock ps cooler and install a proper ps cooler with that saginaw. The added capacity will help the system last longer.

By stock PS cooler, do you mean the line that runs along the front of the frame?

Yes. I see the stock hoses coming up from below the ferd alternator. Scrap that POS and replace it with a proper cooler. I used an 80 series AT cooler and it works wonderfully.

I just picked up a generic AT cooler from autozone, should work well.

Johhny, I have a question about some wheel studs, a want to replace the ones I have on my front axle prior to running spacers, where did you get yours from?

The Toyota dealer. Toyota NA has them in stock. Part #90942‑02053, $7.27 list price. I just bought a set two weeks ago.

List price per stud? I hope not.

Yup. My dealership sold them to me for $5.25 a piece. Worth the price from my perspective, there's a lot riding on those studs.

That's pretty pricey for studs, the front range 4x4 studs are around $2.72 I just don't know which ones to get, but then again they are 1/2-20. I'd have to get new lugs.

I guess I'll be giving American Toyota a call.

I went to a local machine shop in order to get the old PS pump pulley bored out to fit on the new Saginaw pump.

I ended up talking to the owner for about an hour and now I have free access to the shop machinery, provided they don't have a project that needs to be completed immediately.:grinpimp:

That's what I plan on doing as well. Once I have the H55 swapped in, I'll route the PS return line through the factory AT fluid cooler and then through an aftermarket cooler set up in front of the radiator. That oughta help my PS system last a good damn long time :D
