I finished up the OBW bracket tonight and painted it up.
Very easy to fab up. It was mostly the old bracket which held the stock PS and Air pumps, just cut and welded back so it would accept the new large case Ford alternator.

What kind of paint did you use? I would be prepared for some major fading in a couple years :/

I used this stuff:
RustOleum.com

The paint probably won't last too long, but if I get a few years out of it I will be happy.
Then once it fades I'll probably take it to Maaco just so I don't have to deal with the hassle of painting it with rattlecans again.

The rustoleum (burgundy red) on my old pickup lasted about a year before fading, and looked totally pink after about 2 years.

I figured it wouldn't last too long. I just didn't want to drop a bunch of money on a paintjob that I'm gonna scratch the mess out of.

When you have to paint again, buy ya a cheap spray gun and put Tractor supply implement paint on it... I painted a friends old farm truck about 5 years ago with this paint and it has held up surprisingly well...

I wish that had been mentioned sooner. That probably would have been a lot nicer in the end and cost less. I actually might consider still doing that it all depends on how much I like the final coat.

Thanks.

I love the miller, its a great welder. If I was going to buy one for myself I would probably buy the same one.
I forget what type it is I'll check next time I'm over at the shop.

Brokenparts, the Miller is a 185, its a little bit older but works amazing.

Axle is nice and beefy, should be able to slam it accidentally into a bunch of stuff without fear of damage.

Last night I had a solid block of time to put into the cruiser.
With the help of my friend sean we managed to get the drivetrain swapped over to the new FJ62 frame.

Also here is my shackle angle in the front with the drivetrain on.
Any opinions?

I had originally thought of cutting it off and moving it forward and inch or so. I'm not sure if I need/want to being that this angle isn't so severe.

Throw an inch or two longer shackles on there and call it good. That angle will be no good with weight on the truck, but with longer shackles, you should get a good overall angle with wicked flex.

After letting it sit for a couple days, the suspension has settled too much for longer shackles to fix, I'm going to need to relocate the front mounts.
