I was surprised too, usually I don't get sunburn from a MIG.

About the bumper though, I like how Solid the bumper is, I feel confident I won't have and issues if I accidentally hit something like a deer, or newer automobile.

I wouldn't worry about a newer car. If you hit one in an older Cruiser, THEY'RE the crumple zone.

Sorry about the lack of updates, friday I didn't get too much done other than getting the main bumper double passed, and yesterday was pretty busy. I hope to have the front all buttoned up today, and possibly pull it off the truck and get the back fully welded up and possibly boxed. Pretty much the following pictures sum up my day yesterday.

So the bottom part of the bumper is almost finished. Yesterday I was able to put a solid amount of time into it and got the entire bumper boxed in.

Hahaha, The ones I was eating were much larger than that. That is just a random picture I got off of Google images.

I meant to take a picture of the ones I was eating but I forgot, and didn't want to get my phone covered in butter, garlic, and old bay seasoning.

Blues and soft shells are great too.

So Alaska did you ever get your bumper finished up?

this is where I am at with right now. I am at a hault with it right now as we are heading to "cruise Moab" this week. It will do its job and I'll come up with a better idea later.

I need to get an actual camera, the cell phone pictures I have been putting up suck.

Once you box that bumper up you should be able to hit a moose.

Well it turns out 1.5" pipe is a pain in the balls to get where I am, I might just upsize the tubing to 2" to save me some hassles.

Well some good news, while at work I was looking around the shop and found a bunch of 1.5" pipe. I asked my boss if I could have the scraps and he said sure. :D

I took some pictures of the bumper outside in more light, it needed to have the welds smoothed, so out came the 7" angle grinder and the flap wheels. I hope to have the tubework finished tonight.

Spent a few more hours on this bumper,
I had a rough start (couldn't find a tape measure, the shop mechanics took the abrasive chop saw somewhere, and the notcher wasn't working) so I didn't get as much done as I had wanted.
But I did get the tubing all mocked up and some of it even got a full pass of weld.

Once it was mocked together and tacked well I pulled it and did some more welding on it.
Much easier to see on the floor.
I'm going to double pass and then smooth out all of the tube joints, then some paint and it'll be all finished.
