I'm looking at it this way, the body doesn't weigh that much so i'll guess maybe 400lbs is its weight on the front axle, then the engine trans and tcase are probably around 1200 give or take.
That being said its not all going to be situated on the front of the frame so I was going to put a 1000lb load on the front and see how it looks.

Well, I got right to work on the front bumper.
I have the basic shape of the lower part mocked up. Hopefully I will have the whole thing done by this weekend.
And the Pics:
I realized that the driver side is drooping a bit, so after I took this picture I threw it in a vice and squared it up.

do you have a job?
Man, you spend some serious time on this cruiser.......
bumper looks like a great plan over my rig. I MAY COPY and TRIM.

Yes, I work as a mechanical engineer over in Jackson, NJ.
I have access to the shop where the truck is after their working hours which end at 5pm, so I pretty much just head over after work and work until 11pm or so. Last night I got a solid 6 hours of work in on it.

About the bumper, go right ahead and copy whatever you want off of it. I thought it looked pretty sharp on your cruiser too.

Did you use a hydraulic bender or did you weld pipe fittings for your upper portion?

I figured as much, I was talking with the shop mechanic yesterday and he was saying it looked like that's what you did, a little too small a bend radius to have been bent easily.

Gonna need to hit up the local plumbing supply. Or see if my boss could have one of the guys pick them up for me.:grinpimp:

So I got some more done on the front bumper last night. Its starting to come along pretty nicely.
I'm going to go hit up the plumbing supply today for some long radius 90's.
Should be buttoned up over the weekend.

IT looks sorta crappy in these pictures but once I get it all cleaned up its going to be sweet.

Also I did some welding with short sleeves on, I put a welding jacket on after about 10 mins but I woke up to this.

I bet your right johnny...... The arc burned him..
I can see the tee shirt line now!!!

 When Kevin Rowland was teaching me to TIG I watched on with some acetylene goggles and got some wicked sunburn on my face. I was confused for a couple of days afterward because it was overcast that whole week:p

Yep it was a UV burn, I remember when I learned to TIG, I spent like 3 or 4 hours in the shop practicing, in short sleeves.
I regretted that.

Note to self: take own helmet when someone's gonna teach you any kind of welding.

Seriously. I have since invested in my own gear:lol:

I was surprised too, usually I don't get sunburn from a MIG.

About the bumper though, I like how Solid the bumper is, I feel confident I won't have and issues if I accidentally hit something like a deer, or newer automobile.
