Almost positive that bushing will do nothing for a leak. If you get a new rack do the upgraded bushing on new rack. Search for steering rack bushing, you will find quite a bit about this. Good luck.

OK . . . what is the D bushing? Part number?
I plan on that...some day. I figure after the 10th rack, and the 20th CV axle I'll make the move on a SAS.
As for the rack, the SuperPro bushings are arriving this week. The truck is going in for the rack Friday. I can't wait for this to be fixed. The rack has gotten so bad that the truck does NOT go straight. It creaks, pops, and moves about all the time. It's almost dangerous on the highway.
What's the verdict?
Why not go with some poly bushings? I used them in the past with a third gen 4runner on 35s and it really cleaned up the steering rack "flex" as well as the overall feel on the road.

What are some of the symptoms you all have had? 've always noticed that when parking at full turn, the truck seems to shift a bit, feels loose, but when I come off the turn a bit, she stiffens back up. I think in due for lower ball joints, so maybe I'll start there. Symptom feedback appreciated. Thanks!
Well....looks like I am joining the club. I detected a knock in the steering shaft and then it started leaking a little. After about an hour and half drive up from Decatur, I have a small puddle on the garage floor and fluid running down past the bushing by the lower control arm as well as dripping off the oil filter. Sucks. I am going to wait a month or so to get it done. I know in its current condition it will not last the 6 years in the Philippines. 190,000 miles and some good wheeling in there.
I would check the bushing on the passenger side first before replacing the rack. That bushing holds the entire rack in place. My guess is if you don't wheel hard, or smash around on rocks the bushing has opened up and it allowing play.
Did you hear a noise coming from the steering shaft inside the cab/underneath the dash or was it from the engine bay?
I did not note the rack moving around but will look harder at that. The leak is the real indicator to me.
The clunk was noticeable in the cab at the wheel. I had a guy turn the wheel a bit while I examined the shaft thinking I could have an issue at one of the U joints but did not identify a problem there. I am getting a little steering wander on the freeway so the bushing Nick mention being bad certainly is a possibility. The leak appears to be at the input seal where the steering shaft enters the box. It's dripping pretty good.
