So while things are open for my brake system refresh, might as well do the Knuckles for this 20-year old car.
Then I can close it up and call it done for my Front End Baselining (already did the CV Axles one year ago).

What did the new OEM knuckles run you? Online or local dealership??

Also why would you want to upgrade these.... it looks like all metal parts so technically they shouldn't go bad.. But I am ignorant on this one.. so please enlighten us..

Huh, never seen anyone replace these. Could have probably saved some money and just replaced the bearing but hey whatever works.

I agree with you @Patassa lol not sure why you would change a metal part unless there is a reason I am not seeing.. curious why the OP is swapping a good part out for another..

and as you said just getting to swap out the bearings and the dust boot/gasket would be good to go..

In some situations, if the wheel bearing preload is not maintained properly, you will get an ever so slight lip on the spindle where the inside diameter of the bearing actually starts spinning and wearing a groove. Once this happens, you will never be able to maintain bearing preload again and it will forever be an issue. I don't know if that is what motivated the OP to buy new ones in this situation but it is the only reason I would buy them.

@BnvS @Patassa true they are steel-made, but when i checked this car on CarFax it had an accident plus mechanic says left knuckle "looks a bit bent" . This could explain doing 3 alignments still result in cars not going straight and when braking hard-stop it veers a bit (with new steering rack + tie rods). Assuming bent knuckle due to prev accident...

here in Dubai costs 3000 dirhams or around US$800 for a pair of knuckles, from local Toyota parts reseller. Dealership quotes more of course 😂

It's almost impossible to pick up on camera. You will be able to feel it with your fingernail and it may not be all the way around the entire seating area. Just feel the seating area where the wheel bearing sits. If it's not too bad, it's not catastrophic and you can just monitor it for a while, maybe a few years of constant driving.

I'll try that.
