Not much to an educated crowd but I had a guy tell me he paid $300 for a set the other day and I had to tell them they would not work.
They can work on the rear of any truck. Also, if you have a slip on cheapo spacer they work as a spare too.

Can anyone recommend a steel wheel option for a 100 series? Hoping for a stock solution that doesn’t involve spacers. Was interested in these but they seem to be impossible to find

The Tundra steel wheels (spares in my case) are exactly the same diameter, width, backspacing and (of course) bolt pattern as our 100s. They're heavier though. But, I stopped caring about weight with this truck about 2,000 lbs ago ;)

Not TLC, but this 16” steel Toyota wheel (used for spares on 1996+ 4Runners and Tacomas) does not fit a 1989 (first gen w/ IFS) Front end. The diameter of the center bore is too small. Will likely work with spacers.

Edit: this wheel does not fit the rear of a first gen 4Runner either. Center bore is too small. We test fitted the front with a 1.25” spacer and still no joy.

This wheel would need a 2” spacer to work on my 89.

I got a set of smooth Vintiques from Summit. This is a better option than my eTrailer as mentioned earlier because the center bore is 4”. No machine needed.

I painted them darker this time since this truck came with the darker color

Rustoleum Charcoal Gray

Tires are 285/75-16 which measured out

32.25” tall and 10.5” wide.

They look like the perfect fit-are they 16x8?

Nolen: the reason why the OEM 15” black rims fade after time is that the black is just primer only.

They are meant to be painted a final coat. FYI.

This is exactly true. I have been to CMWA before to see their manufacturing process (Steel wheel supplier to TMNA plants) and all steel wheels come out in black primer which is technically called "e-coat" first but only the wheels used on the ground are sent off for a coat of silver paint (again e-coat).

Spare wheels just stay in black primer / e-coat.

looking good @wngrog , great with the graphics. PM'd about your design

my steelies are still in the shop :( damn Big-O A/ts never die, at 5 year mark though! fingers crossed by next summer

Morning team! Tim here from Australia. After following this thread and seeing someone else has done it before me, I’m on the hunt for some of the tundra/Tacoma steelies. 16x7 +15 16 hole wheels. Hopefully I’ll be able to report back to you all soon with any update.

I have the same wheels in the same color on my Baja bug. Love it.

Need to dig up pics of my HZJ73 with 16” Tacoma steelies

Definitely can't do tacoma steelies on a 70 series (or 40 series)
Fitment mostly. Interference with tie rod end. And I guess a little for looks to push them out toward the fender flares

What brand of 1.5" spacers? I may give in and use spacers with Tacoma steelies since they are so easy for me to get, if I go the steelie route in the future.
