Any particular reason you are shooting for less than 3k? No harm should come from anything under redline..

I’m not as familiar with the paddle shifters but yes the shifter to the left into S mode will set the highest gear the transmission will use. So if you don’t want it shifting to fourth, set it to S3.

Good to know. I guess I have seen that on vehicles.

And now, after googling it a bit, I see several places around Houston offer it.
But I also see that it’s not a cure-all and am not sure if it’s better than simply getting the hood repainted every 3 years.

I’m going to google more and perhaps start a new thread on this forum just on PPF (if there isn’t already one).

I keep getting a "fob battery low". Is this a quick fix with a new 2032 battery?

FWIW, I’ve found a sensitivity to cheap, off-brand batteries in key fobs - continued “no key found”/“battery low”/etc. messages with Amazon special batteries, only resolved after replacing with genuine Energizer batteries.

Rarely do i see a question that actually fits the title of this thread. The answer you seek is yes.

If there appeared to be any correlation between that failure and people who tow heavy, suggesting sustained periods of higher RPMs, I could see maybe taking it into consideration. But I haven’t seen anything like that.

But there is a very real risk of burning up brakes if you don’t use the rev range properly in the mountains..

I'll risk any potential valve spring failure due to engine braking over the almost certain brake failure due to not engine braking in the mountains and while off roading. I recall that someone at an LCDC lost his brakes after coming down from a trail due to riding his brakes and almost had a very bad day.

Have any of you driven your LC or LX until it ran out of fuel and taken note of how far one can go after it says your range is 0?

21 miles is as far as I’ve gone, but it didn’t run dry then.

Since I have an aux tank and can easily refuel after shut-down, I’m tempted to test this, in the name of science, but worry it might damage something.
 
I haven’t run it out but I have added 23.9 gallons once. @Markuson once said he put in 25 gallons… I’ve not been that brave

My light comes on at 19.5 gallons used when empty, 20 gallons used when towing. I just reset my trip meter whenever I fill up so I can look at the mpg for the tank and do the math as to how far I can go

As a test, I've done 45 miles on local roads to engine stall after the fuel light comes on. Which equates to something like 3.5 gallons at about 13 MPG. On the freeway, this could mean something like 60 miles range.

Note that towing changes everything and I wouldn't trust having anywhere near those ranges after the fuel light comes on.
 
In my previous experience with fuel injected Scions, Toyotas and Lexuses, I comfortably have 30 miles of range after the fuel light comes on. That’s whether it’s a 4-banger coupe or a 8 cylinder 4x4 and every-thin in between…30 miles.

Mine generally quotes 0 when the light turns on.

Ha! Yep. And it wasn’t really bravery. ;) One of the 2 times…I simply goofed, and literally coasted down a sloped offramp at Mission Gorge Road off i8 West in San Diego one late night…ran a red light (zero traffic, so was actually safe…) in order to coast—totally out of gas— right to a gas pump(!!).

But yes. I aqueezed a full 25 presumably including the fill tube…? I quit topping off, and somewhere I have a photo for proof…ha!

PS. That was long after my first boiling gas incident…so no, it didn’t start my evap codes from over-filling (but…who knows what starts that syndrome…! )

Speaking of evap codes...I finally got em just this past week, although the boiling fuel first appeared years ago. What's the "fix" if any other than clearing them with my reader?

For me, the fix was replacing the charcoal canister.

But I got to this only after I had tried the simpler/cheaper fixes: new gas cap and replacing the purge valve.
