Thanks. Yeah mine is binding somehow. I don’t see anything in the hinge. This is as far as it will go, to get it here the whole riveted bracket is torquing. It still closes flush.
Just ignore the portable trail I keep in there.

Hey @grinchy, you ever figure this out? Ive had the same issue for a while now, dont drive much so I forget about it until I go get gas. Certainly wasnt always like this but I havent taken the time to troubleshoot. I have barely enough room to fit the nozzle in and have to hold nazzle and lid to ensure nothing breaks when fueling. Finally getting on my nerves...

No, I didn’t. But over time the impingement has become less and less. It almost opens all the way now, so I figure something organic got in there and it’s kind of decomposing out. Or the hinge has slowly been bending more and more

Ok thanks. Just wanted to make sure it wasnt something specific. Ill try cleaning it out and seeing if it helps any.

I want to have the fuel pump recall done (finally), but I can't get a straight answer despite searching here, and the dealer I called wasn't sure, so I told them I would check. My question: is the job done from the underneath, by dropping the tank? Or do they go in from above?

I need to know for sure before I make the appointment because I have ARB rear drawers installed with lots of wiring, and they won't be able to deal with that (not do I want them to) if they have to go in from above. Obviously I'd rather not tear it all out unless absolutely necessary.

Underneath. Definitely the easier path. It's probably 2 banana job, closer to 1 banana given your skills.

What is this fuel pump recall?

and did the heat shielding of the fuel tank stop the fuel boiling?

Thanks .. it doesn't apply to my 2016.

I'm at LCDC and was on the Poughkeepsie Gulch trail today and noticed my steering rack boots looking puffy. I can't tell if there's just pressurized air in or if there's fluid. Has anyone seen these puff up due to elevation change? If its not air then the only other thing would be PS fluid, right? The PS fluid level in the reservoir seems fine (I replaced the fluid in the reservoir prior to the trip). I do get some clunking noise some times while turning during wheeling in High mode. But besides that everything seems normal. I'll pull the boot when I get home from this trip...

If it's an altitude thing it should go back to normal by the time you get home..

You could also try compressing one of the clamps then inserting a tool to burp the pressure.

My 2013 LC does the same thing at altitude. Noticed it 4 years ago, happens everytime i head up to the mountains. No issues have come about from it.

Well at least we know we don't need extended breathers for the steering rack also

I just noticed that a big chunk of my fan shroud has broken off. I'm not sure when or how this happened, but I think it must have happened recently since it is so obvious. I do most of my own work, but in the past year or so have paid a mechanic to replace my alternator, starter and steering rack (not all at the same time!). I replaced the radiator myself a few years ago. None of the fan blades appear damaged.

Any ideas on how I can patch this? Next time I change my oil I will look in the skid plate to see if the piece fell down there. I should note that I am one of these folks who keep most of the engine bay plastic off.

2010 LX570.

Edit: just realized that this is a cheap and (hopefully) easy fix. Ordered a replacement shroud for $106 delivered.

Thanks! It was just the elevation/pressure change. It's all back to normal now.

Anyone had issues with the door lock system not wanting to see key fobs unless you’re extremely close and patient? I regularly will grab the door handles (driver or trunk) and it won’t unlock until I try several times looking like a fool. Key is hanging on my belt loop. I’ll also occasionally get “key not detected” when I’m sitting in the drivers seat inside the truck. Happens with both my wife’s key and mine. I’ve swapped batteries in our keys and it persisted, so I bought another new battery for mine just in case the new ones we were using were bad. Truck starter battery is about a year old and seems strong.

I've had this though very infrequently. What I have noticed in my 2017 is that over the last year, it is slow to respond to inputs to lock or enable security. Like it seemed to be almost instantaneous and now it's up to a second or more after I hit the lock button (on the fob or door handle) before it locks, beeps and folds the mirrors. New batteries in both of my fobs too.

After you all put an aftermarket skid plate system on what did you do with the stock system/parts? Trash them, sell for scrap, or save them thinking one day you'll use that again?

This has me curious where the car-side antenna is and whether it can get caked with mud or something.

I can reliably get "key not detected" or whatever by putting my key into the little rubber lined area in front of shifter, which as I understand it is right under the receiver antenna. Always seemed odd to me. Move it to the cup holder or other parts of the console, no problem.

I was having a lot of problems exactly like this, until I swapped out the cheap SuperbrightLEDs.com bulbs with bulbs from FullyLitLEDs (vender here on MUD). No issues since.

Intereting

I haven’t added any electronics except my LFP Bluetti battery for my fridge back in April. TBH I’m not sure when this started but probably not too far off. I pulled that battery system today as one of the cooling fans sounds like the bearings are going already, so I took it apart to order a replacement fan. We’ll see if it magically gets better temporarily.
