No idea what that plug is for, but traditionally Toyota uses white with black stripe for ground, and green for illumination.

I get the beeeeeeeeep too when I turn the car off and open the door like I left the key in the ignition (if there was one). I haven’t checked to see if the headlights are on Auto. It’s annoying but if I close the door and reopen it stops.

However, the lights should go out after after a set number of seconds even if you don’t lock the car, I think like 30 if I had to guess. But they should also turn off when you hit the lock button twice. Does that happen?
You can hit the little black plunger on the door jamb to shut it off instead of shutting the door.
Most cars I've had do this and yes it is annoying!

At what mileage should the spark plugs get changed?

I see some people doing it at 100k and others at 130k.

The owners manual says 120k

I just did mine at 121k and I've noticed zero difference in mileage or power. Maybe they'd run 200k or more without degradation, maybe 122k is the limit?

Thanks,

I would be more worried about them getting stuck and not come out, vs failing.

Are people putting a high temp anti seize on them going back in like the diesel guys do on glow plugs?

Sand...how do people feel about driving their LC on sand dunes? There's a big dune park in Silver Lake, Michigan, but I don't know about going. The thought of my truck getting full of sand, some of which I'll never get out, makes me nervous. Sand and moving parts are not a good combo.

Am I being needlessly paranoid?

The guys who go dune jumping in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, etc would say you're being paranoid.

Personally I'm not too worried about sand. It tends to fall off easily when it dries. Way better than salt. Moab mud OTOH turns into hunks of clay like bricks and never falls off.

hmmm..

I know, I know!

All I'm saying is that the Cruiser ripping through the sand in that video is not the one in my garage. I don't care if it sucked 5 lbs. of sand into the motor and blew up. ;)
You got to pay to play.... I'm not taking mine to the dunes... or in a river... not that it can't.

I've had mine in the soft sugar sand and it ran great!

Went with a bunch of jeeps, most of which were having some trouble, but the LC200 had no problems. The jeep behind us got stuck, then some jaws dropped when we just stopped and backup the hill of soft sand without any issues.

having been to silver a bunch this year:

1. prep is key. if you want to avoid sand in the car, avoid shoes when you get out, bring a towel to wipe off feet before getting in, and keep the windows up. good rubber floor mats help, and ive even seen guys use painters tape and plastic sheeting to cover their carpets lol.
2. airbox and filter does a great job of keeping sand out. i bought a extra filter and swap it in when i air down for the dunes. at the end of the day i swap back to my "clean" filter. never been an issue
3. as for riding, theres a lot you can do and see without going on the big dunes. ive seen everything from VW jettas, minivans, honda crvs, subaru WRXs, motor swapped powerwheels and even snowmobiles. theres flat ground to follow out to the beach, the dragstrip, the bathrooms and the food trucks.
4. taking your time and being smart helps. running up test hill is a blast, but sit and watch how the other guys do it, ask about the top of the dune (can get very peaked in wind) or consider running one of the "cuts" rather than the crest. if you do get bogged down, get off the gas asap, lightly reverse and if you cant get out, the sign for help is to throw your tow strap out a little ways. someone will come up the hill and give you a gentle tug. spinning your tires while stuck just sends sand everywhere.

if you want to check it out without risking your car, you can always rent a buggy for a few hours, or come out with a fellow mud member who is obsessed with the dunes.

Depends on what you're towing, and where you ride with the vehicle loaded. I run an aluminum hitch that has multiple drop height options, so I have flexibility.

Depends on your trailer tongue height. My trailer is low so I had to use a shank which drops 11" (though the top of the ball only drops maybe 7").

I'd start with at least 4". Even for a stock 200 series as our hitches are relatively higher.

Real solution in my mind is to lift the trailer :hillbilly:

I have the OEM Factor hitch if you want it cheep. It has approx. 4" drop. Came with the vehicle.

Message me if you want it.

My vehicle is lifted so I have no need for it.

I agree with everything @VSPro9 said....good summary. I've been to Silver Lake multiple times and had a blast. You'll need to air down and if you don't have air with you, there is an ORV place just outside the exit to air back up (though you may have to wait for an available hose. You'll need a flag and you'll need an ORV sticker and state park passport sticker from the DNR. The sand is no problem, but I admit I don't go there to wildly spin the tires and cut donuts. It washes and vacuums off and Land Crusiers are made for it. I've never had any in the engine compartment. Each time I've been, the crest of Test Hill has been too sharp for my risk level. I watched an ORV tip over backwards there when the driver didn't get off the gas quick enough at the top. So I've gone around the safer routes to the hill tops. It's fun just to watch and learn from others about sand driving too. The entrance staff know Land Cruisers and won't question your vehicle's capability, but I've seen them stop others to check them out because the rangers don't want to spend all day pulling folks out. Don't go on a busy weekend because the crazies take all the fun out of it when they way outnumber everyone else. Get your flag and stickers and go! There is a separate Lake Michigan Land Cruisers section on MUD and every once in a while a trip over there gets organized.
