Yep the group moves at the speed of the slowest participant. Being a old Harley rider I don't go anywhere without a 1/2, 9/16, 3/4" wrenches

Better to be repaired than to be road bait

In my quest to baseline this truck, I'm wondering about the fuel filter. I figure it's had about 6500 gallons of gas pumped through it now, so I think it's time to be changed. Anybody done this yet? Where is it? How hard is it to change?

If it's like the 2nd gen Tundra (which I assume it is), it's in the tank part of the pump assembly.

In 80 series pump access is given inside cab by removing carpet and few screws. I wonder if 200s has same kind of access. otherwise the tank needs to be dropped to change the filter.

Edit: I just checked the fsm, rear seats has come out and carpet. there is access to fuel pump/filter without have to drop the tank.

I assume it's a "non-maintenance item". Then again so is a transmission fluid flush and we all know how that fluid looks after being flushed.

From what I understand it's a basic paper filter. I'm sure it's one of the parts between 20 and 27 on the 2nd diagram on this site.

Sooo, this might be a stupid question but,

I finally took the plunge into a 200 and so far, I've been disappointed with the build quality. This was the last thing I expected. The door handles squeak, the little door to the cup holders squeaks, the center arm rest lid doesn't close correctly (there is about an 1/8th of an inch of play while closed), on and on. Mine doesn't even have 40K miles, and has been meticulously cared for according to the previous owner and dealer records. Is this normal or should I look into it further?

Thanks.

If under warranty, I would get it addressed. I never had any issues or squeaks and I’m very OCD on that kind of stuff as to why I’m not happy with my X5.

@Angelo1 are you coming back to the 200 life? :)

A very very good chance.

I would venture that the offending squeaks were not present at deivery and if a latch is is misaligned it isn't the end of the world all can be corrected by a visit to an authorized dealer. Were there other major build issues such as not staying in the center of the lane within 1/8" while going down the road?
You bought a used vehicle, so maybe next time open said doors before purchasing? Cheese is on sale too

Thanks for the feedback on this. After the enormous hassle I've gone through getting the tranny screen changed and flushed (truck has been at the dealership since Friday as they attempt to get this done), I'm not too keen to attack this. Looks expensive and probably not intended to be replaced as a maintenance item, likely not worth it.

I don't get your comment or questions.

Has anyone tried to syphon gas out of a 200 LC/LX?

This summer while crossing Glacier NP (Alberta) an elder couple on a Harley were low on gas, and gas station at the pit stop we were at was closed for renovations. There were a few cars there but none of us had anyway to syphon gas from our vehicles to the Harley.

So, once home, I bought one of those Super/Shaker siphon hoses to see if I can siphon gas out of the LX. Even after getting most of the 5ft hose down the filler neck, the tip of the hose was still dry - and I am stumped!

From the filler neck to the top of the gas tank is about 3-4 feet of hose. Add however much below the top of the tank the gas is and you're looking at a lot of hose. Mad hose if you will

Also, those shaker siphoning things are horrendous.

Huh. I have one that I carried in my pickup, I used it a couple of times to get gas for our generator when the gas stations were closed/out of power, and it worked great.

OK, stupid question, got a low frequency sound coming from one of my front interior fans in the dash. Wife does not notice it but she is a little hard of hearing ;). I have 4 more years of bumper to bumper warranty still on my LX570. If I turn up the stereo to mid range I don't notice it :). My concern is having a Lexus tech take my dash apart to replace the fan and I end up with a squeaky dash or other problems? I'm thinking about just living with it and turning up the stereo until or if it gets worse or waiting a few years and having it fixed before the warranty is up. What say you?
