I want to change the gray color on my front grill to black. Can any one confirm that the 200 grill is two pieces and can be taken apart? The imported black/chrome grill Japan is $600.
The grill comes completely apart. The chrome pieces unbolt from the grey pieces.

Which tires wear fastest on the 200 series the front or the rear? Also heard you should always have your best tires on the rear of the vehicle for safety is that true ?
SW- you've quietly left the 100 forum and stepped up to a new platform- congrats on the new rig.

Ive been told the same regarding placing best rubber on the rear of the vehicle.

SQOD #1...

2016 200- When turning off the truck (pushing the ignition button) the rig turns off with no power to the radio. Almost every somewhat newer car I've ever been in provides power to the radio until a door gets opened.

Nothing in the owners manual under the ignition switch (page 193).

Am I missing something?

I hate arriving home and having to leave the truck running to finish listening to an interview, inning, song.

Any info is appreciated.

Not perfect, but just shut off the truck, keep your foot off the brake, push start again, that should get you radio. Second push is full accessories.

^^^^ Thanks WineMan. That's what I've been doing but it seems so un-intuitive. I've also read that you can leave it in gear (or N) and shut off, then place in park. Sure seems like Mr. T is smart enough to come up with an easier solution like hold the button for 3 seconds or something!

It seems my front tweeters in the "A" pillars are not working Should they work the same as tweeters in the passanger doors?

In case anybody wants to know what a new fuel filler door looks like. This is heading to the paint shop tomorrow for a fresh coat of Super White. It is held in place with some special pop rivet. Door was $41.88 from McGeorge. Shop said they would shoot the paint and install for $100.

I bought a floor jack today for the sole purpose of changing the suspension settings. Not only did I not change them because I wussed out after I put the jack stands under, but I managed to bend one of the rear lower control arm with the floor jack because I saw the Toyota mechanic lift the cruiser that way.

(Disregard everything except this part. I stopped being a bitch and got them adjusted.) So, is a slightly bent control arm going to be noticeable? Does it throw off the geometry enough to have any affects?

Edit: And where's the best spot to position the floor jack and stands, if you just had to droop all four corners? (I've got Slee Sliders.)

Don't remember seeing this asked answered, but then again, my memory...

Anyway, most every car/truck I've owned would simply coast down a hill when cruise control was engaged and the hill was steep enough to keep speed at or above the set value.

Being as my 17 hasn't yet really left Florida I was quite surprised today when on going down a pretty good incline that the truck downshifted to use engine breaking. I presume it did this in an automated fashion n an attempt to maintain the set speed. Went down a gear or two - over 3K RPMs - problem disappeared when I kicked off the cruise. Hence why I p

Normal?

Even better-keep the transmission in Drive, push power button, then put in park. Turns engine off but keeps radio on.

I put it in N, shut engine off and then slide into Park when I want to keep the radio on.....

That's a cool trick...

Here's one:
Why is it when your stopped, in traffic or otherwise, and you switch to sport mode (slap the gear selector to the left to manually select the gears) does Toyota default to 4th gear on the dash display. I realize it still starts in 1st but why doesn't the display tell you so. I get it while its moving as a downshift, but when stopped??

I don't know why it does that when stopped...since it automatically downshifts even when you specify 4th.

My only theory beyond that is that it might be considered a "mid range" that will will neither thrash your transmission if going fast, nor lurch forward from a stop. Sort of like a "safe" starting range, leaving you only two shifts from 2nd, or two shifts from over-drive.

If you switch to manual on the freeway, it still goes straight to 4th. I assume that's because it guesses you want more RPMs than overdrive...and is safer than shifting to a lower gear. Also...if it defaulted to 3rd...and you don't realize you bumped it? You might over-rev without realizing it (think mall cruisers).

Bottom line? Who knows...
It would be great it Toyota explained the WHY...but they rarely do.
Like.... Why did you put those ridiculous screen in the second row???? :hillbilly:

Lexus/Toyota has always used the following interpretation for their "manual shift" mode - gear shown is the "highest gear" that the transmission will shift to, not the current gear. My first Lexus, IS300 back in 2002 worked the same way.

Interesting enough, I assumed it always defaulted to 4th gear when switching over. Not so, it will actually go to S3 too, depending on current speed. As I've been towing my travel trailer a lot recently. If I were going about 45 mpg in regular, then switched to manual, it would jump to S3.

I actually like this "highest gear" manual mode. It's basically still full auto, but limits it to the selected highest gear. Very useful for towing at least. Less useful for someone wanting a real manual mode.

Is the Colby emergency replacement tire valve worth having with you if you're already packing a spare? curious if it is really a one minute valve change out especially with a rock warrior beauty ring in place? my mind says that beats the hell out of swapping out wheels. Never messed with it before just wondering

Depends I guess if you had TPMS sensors, if so is the inner portion still attached? There in ls another potential issue if it's broke off inside it will thrash around when you drive with the Colby. All of that said I stocked up on an assortment, because if it's not me broke it will be someone else in the crew and we don't leave anyone behind, unless he's out of beer. And besides why pass up a chance to have to carry a deep 1/2" socket when every other nut and bolt on our rigs is metric?
