Is it possible to add automatic rain sensing wipers to a 2009 LC? Or does the 2013 have a different windshield? I see the black marks in the middle of the windshield that look like the rain sensor (could be mistaken)?
Rain sensor is near the rearview mirror mount.

Those are wiper heaters IIRC
Wiper heaters, aka windshield de-icer, is at the bottom of the glass. They're fed with relatively large wiring

Yesterday I noticed corrosion around my battery terminals / posts, which I cleaned off prior to the Ouray trip / August - any idea what causes that to build up? is it natural or something maybe I have introduced by mistake?
thanks

The corrosion itself is formed from outgassing during the charging process. Why you see it is usually due to one of two things:

1. Overcharging of the system (voltage regulation not properly functioning?), which results in excess outgassing.

2. Damage to the seal between the battery posts and the battery housing, which allows gas to come out under the terminal(s). This could be from either twisting the posts too hard (usually by twisting attached terminals) or maybe even picking one up the battery by the posts/terminals (if the seals were marginal to begin with).

I personally would remove the terminals, clean posts and terminals, put on a couple of those red/green felt washers, lightly grease the terminals and reinstall. If it comes back then you have a big enough problem to warrant a fix (either battery or alternator/regulator replacement.

One final note: An old mechanic once told me that if the corrosion is from significant overcharging, greasing up the battery posts may make the corrosion move to the other end of the cable(s). I'm not sure how this happens (corrosion is from the outgassing so how would it get there?), but it's what I was warned about, so passing along for others to dispute/confirm.

Thank you for the detailed reply. Good info

TRD Rock Wheel question, I currently have the 18" TRD pro wheels on my truck and have an option to get the Rock Worrior wheels. I really like the look of the black pro wheels but would change if the other wheels are actual bead lock wheels.

So my question is, are the rock worrior rims bead locks or are they just 17" wheels with a removable trim ring?

Thank you for your help,

Mark

Toyota calls the removable ring a valve stem protector ring, but to your question, they are not bead lock wheels.

They aren't bead locks, but I am quite sure they DID, in fact, save at least one of my valve stems in Moab in August.

I am really considering just buying them and let them sit in my shop so I will have that option when my tires are shot.

Anyone know the size of the lower control arm bolts? 24mm?

Yesterday my central locking and the rear windows were not working from the driver console. The error was B2325 LIN communication bus .. any one has clues ? The windows work from their individual buttons and central locking works with the remote. Something weird with the driver console... Checked all fuses and even the console connections...

Any pointers!!

Do anyone knows the specs/size of the screws that attach the original steps, I have sliders installed but would like to put the screws back to fill the holes, wife "cleaned" the garage and threw the screws, went to the local dealership and they gave me much too small screws.

M8 w/1.25 pitch. Not sure about length. I think they are less than 35 mm.
