Check it out.
I have the same engine/ harness, dashpod from 1994 Caprice.
Debating on 4BT or the LT1.

Can't wait to get your reviews once it is up a nd running!

john

Yeah, I checked into speartech, but went with LT1Wiring for numerous reasons ($200 less, better customer service, more positives from LT1 rat car sites, etc).

Okay gang,
Been to several local shops, and NOBODY knows how to wire this thing up.
Figured out that both the yellow plugs inside the engine compartment are what I need to wire into, but have no idea what's what on the plugs. Also, for the life of me I cannot locate an FSM, nor does any of the shops have one for me to get a copy.
Does anyone have an FSM diagram for these plugs so that I can figure out how to wire this bloody GM harness up?
Everything's done except exhaust and wiring, and have a few days left to finish it up.

Tossed these in today:

Check with your local library. Go to the reference section and ask for Mitchell-on-demand. Its on CD and it will have your wiring diagrams.

Alright, so I can access the instrumentation/etc without the use of the ECU/extended motor harness...Man, you guys are confusing me!
I dont recall the FSM having a diagram of that plug.
LT1Wiring redid my GM harness, and has all the GM wires "tagged" so IF I can figure out where they tie into the Toyoda system I'll be set. If anyone else has additional knowledge/advice please share!
I'm WAY too close to hooligan-ism!

3fe engine harness plugs. (should no longer exsist if you have a new harness, tho if you are cutting and splicing the engine harness for your lt1 these are the set of wires you will be conecting with.... just order you a harness and toss your old 3fe one or put it up on mud... so much easier its stupid.)

my finger showing where the dash plug would go into the 3fe ecu. this is the one you will connect up to. (the one Randy a.k.a. Iaintscared1969 is refering to
The one yellow plug that still remains under your dash is you instrument cluster stuff. That is your tie in to the dash and where you will tie into it with the GM setup. No additional plugs needed. Locate what you need and you are in there.
) sorry no pic of the plug but you know what your looking for now at-least.

Bloody hell, thanks for the pic's! I was looking at the wrong yellow connector (you just saved me some hassle)!
Now, if anyone has some diagram/chart that shows what colour wire's what I'll be firing it up asap!

Okay...
I know its been a looong time coming, but I'm finally gonna finish up the project soon (Winter break). Everything's in, and hope to work on the exhaust tomorrow. Will also get some pic's up.
Still unsure about the wiring...did I need to keep the old ECU to tie the LT1 wiring harness into it? Got the LT1 loom all wired up to the motor/tranny, but am really confused as to how to wire the rig. Do I have to wire each gauge separately?
I heard/understand that the 6x's are a switched ground, and dont want to burn it to the ground!
Any help would be mucho appreciated!

What to do with this mess of the wiring harness?

What would something like this cost? v8 conversion

What would something like this cost? v8 conversion

Currently, I'm in it (the LT1/4L60e with adapters, shifter, adapters, wiring harness, drivelines, etc.) about $1,220. Hope to come in under $2,000 (but might be doing a new radiator as well).
That's including selling the Toyoda motor/tranny to offset the costs...got more for the Toyoda stuff than I paid for the Chevy.

BTW: The local library does not have any FSM's for Toyoda, just Haynes manuals...If anyone has a diagram/fsm sheet with this plug's designations I would be eternally gratefull!

HEY - I need that firewall gromet! Or Iam coming:flipoff2: to get the yagermister!

if im down when we talked about before ill have it for you. if not ill mail it down to ya.

but hopefully ill be down.

Just took a thorough look, and there is not a "yellow" plug behind the glovebox. I'm assuming that the loom with yellow plugs on the passenger side engine compartment is my only alternative. Its a good thing I replaced the carpet/seats cause I might be sleeping in the Cruiser tomorrow night...Mrs Dirty aint happy.

Some new pic's...
Under my dash (notice no yellow wiring plug), and if anyone has any ideas as to how to wire this thing up I'm all ears.

and then today I finally installed the 1" body lift. Honestly, it was a PITA. The rear bolts were a pain, and the HD hardware kit was shorter than the stock bolts. I'll be calling the company to try and get a remedy. Took about 4 hours, and a good deal of swearing.
Fortunately, it gave the rig the much needed "extra leg", and maintained the classic lines that I wanted.
