roll bar looks great. How much fab work went into installing? Been thinking about doing one...kinda paranoid about driving around with out a stout cage installed to protect my girls. Assuming only the front supports require drilling/cutting?

There is actually a fair amount of work with getting a new cage in....MT takes care of all of the hard stuff but you still need a qualified welder to assemble it properly.

As far as drilling, my tub was new so I don't really know if any of the stock holes would have lined up....even so, it only would have been a couple anyway. The roll bar has mounting points inn in the front (4 holes each side) and mounting points between the rear side bars (if memory serves 6 holes each side).

MT makes a good product....it turned out nice, but all in all, it was not inexpensive. but neither is a trip to the ER.

OK...this has been a long time until an update.

Log story short....pinion bearing seized and the FJ40 has been in the shop.



Finally got things fixed (ARB locker installed at the same time) and can get to work on the hard top.

I realize that this packing is supposed to be adhered to the top....I figured it was easier to have it on the bottom rail.

Below a series of shots of the weather stripping for the hard top.




It took some studying of the Spector diagrams to figure out the rail weather strip....the extra length is for fj 45s.

A little lube on the posts....FYI: I had to cut the driver side post short as PACOL felt the need to weld a nut partially in the way of the post about 4 inches down???

A few hours of careful fitting....and viola!







We never finished the Ambulance doors for fear that they would not fit correctly....that was a good prediction. The bottoms of the doors are about 1/8 of an inch to long with the top mated to the PACOL tub.

That project will have to wait until later in Sept as the truck will be off to Complete OffRoad for wiring, Vintage air install and other goodies. That will probably happen around labor day so I have some time to take on the many tiny projects and headaches that are building in my notebook of tasks.
