Product Update:

Wanted to show you guys some of the changes to the original front bumper design.

We ended up forgoing the stock frame bolts in favor of a larger diameter grade 8. The factory bolts are held in place by 3 small tack welds, so a few taps from the hammer gets them out of the way.

The reason for doing so was to allow for the new bracket design to work. I designed it so that it would sandwich the thin factory frame plate between a 1/2" plate and 3/16" on the back side making this whole section over 3/4" (.813") of steel it would have to bend before failure:

Our most recent customer also wanted some rigid style square LED driving lights, so we accomodated. I ended up liking it so much, it is now the standard fog light option.

All in all, the design continues to develop into a better and better product that is becoming faster to produce with consistency. Big thanks to all of my customers so far! It's been a pleasure making these parts to get your rigs out on the trails.

That bumper looks familiar :)

Keeping it in the family! My bro will love it!

Interesting forum name :)

Life always seems to happen all at once for me. Car was totaled from a guy turning in front of me while I was doing 50mph AND a gigantic tree fell into my neighbors yard from mine. Sigh.....

and the gigantic tree:

at least the tree didnt fall on you after you wrecked! Hope everyone is okay!

You do know how to look at the bright side!

It wont be long now.
I'm looking to do this to my 06 GX with KDSS. Could you tell me what you did with the suspension and how tall is the lift in the front, back and overall? (Tricking the rear air bag, adding aftermarket shock absorbers to the back, front coilovers)

How do you go with the 33s? I was under the impression that without a significant lift (4" or more) they would rub and grind on everything front and rear. Have you found this to be true?

THats awesome!

No, I dont rub on anything noticeable unless im at full compression with my wheel turned full lock to the driver. Even then it just catches the plastic from the old running boards and makes a noise a bit. I have seen a very small amount of paint rubbed off the body mounts, so it would probably be beneficial to go ahead and do a body mount chop. I havent done so, cause it really isnt bad at all. Any tire larger though, and you'll definietly need it.

special consideration is necessary at that point because the frame does flex quite a bit causing that particular point to come into contact with the headlight housing or the fender itself. I erred on the side of caution so to not cause any damage to the customers vehicle.

I have, for a time, had an idea in my head to manufacture some nice looking cover pieces that would go between the oem fender and the SouthernSS bumper but I've never found the time. If a customer is particularly worried about that section, I have a simple and elegant solution.

What about a color matched piece of rubber? Looking good either way. ;)
