I need to decide between these and the Escape Gear covers and both seem to be very similar and around the same price range. I've read pretty good reviews about the EG but was wondering if anyone else could chime in on their experience with the SOR seat covers?

I have SOR covers and love them. Very durable and tough, well worth the extra price in my opinion (and I’m a cheapskate). They also fit like a glove. But I’ve heard good things about the Escape Gear covers too, which are a little cheaper than SOR.

SOR looks like they use standard duck cloth. You could order additional fabric if you really want to duck out.

Owning the Escape Gear seat covers, these look like a more accurate fit to the seats.

I don’t think you can go wrong with either one. The Escape Gear covers are definitely what I would buy if SOR didn’t make any. We’ve been buying Cruiser parts from SOR for over 20 years, so I’m biased towards purchasing from them.

I’ve got the SOR Tuff Duck covers in the 1st row of our 99 LX.

As far as function and comfort, I’m really happy with them.

They fit fairly well, but aesthetically they just have a (fitted) “bag on a seat” look, that I find somewhat offensive.

I don’t have any escape gear to compare them to.

Would I buy them again? Yes.

Would I put them in a fancy luxury vehicle? No.

Would I put them in an off road toy, or hunting truck? Yes.

Do I have any regrets? Not really, although I might go for a darker brown instead of trying to match the tan leather.

I've been running the Carhartt precision fit classic tan/gold color seats in my Tacoma with a tan/oak interior like the LX. They do have a precision fit.

The gold color clashes with the oak tones. Also, they show dirt even with Scotchguard. Those covers are only available in gold or charcoal.

If I had it to do over again, I would have gone with Charcoal. I think the brown duck cloth will be easier to live with for an off-road vehicle.

I ran the SOR Tuff Ducks for about 4 years on my first 100 and I liked them enough to buy another set for my 2nd 100. The challenge I had with them wasn't with fit or durability, it was that they stained fairly easily and since I used my truck for hunting, you can imagine what they looked like. I don't think it was a function of the product itself but the light color of the material used. They're not cheap but the fit was good and the materials top notch and I would consider them again. Prior to having them on my 100 I had a set of black ones in my FJ62 and those fit nicely and stood up to the abuse better. I've also had Wet Okole covers and I was pretty disappointed with those, they fit fine but faded almost immediately and went from brown (to match the FJ62 interior) to a weird shade of pink almost immediately.

I can confidently say that the Escape Gear seat covers do not stain easily. If you happen to rub some grease on the covers accidentally when you're, saying, lubing the slip yokes, the grease comes right off with a damp cloth. The material is also quite hydrophobic, for lack of a better word. A liquid spill will just ball up into drops, and roll down if the surface is at an incline.

Please include pics of your strap routing in your review. I never think to snap pics in the middle of a task.

I have(had) the SOR covers in my second row. Fit is pretty good. They are made from a water resistant (maybe waterproof) heavy polyester cordura-like material. They dont say but It feels like 500+ denier - and they take some breaking in to loose the rough (scratchy) feel. Suggest you wash them once or twice before install to try and soften them up.

Be advised the fronts are not designed for seat airbags if your model year has them.

Hadn't heard of the SOR before. They look way nicer than the Escape Gear. EG to me looks like a shopping bag draped over the seats.
More like a luxurious potato sack.

6 of one, half dozen of the other.

Today I ordered a set of SOR covers for front and rear seats on my LX470. I like the brown color since it won't show dirt like a lighter tan color. I really had my eye on the EG cover but decided I will most likely wear the dark piping off the seat from sliding across the seat. The wait time is too long for EG. No option listed for the rear (mid) seat. EG site posted a bunch of conditionals about ordering in December. I think you are either in business or you are not.

Deciding factors for going with SOR.

1) A human answers the phone and is knowledgeable about the product and stock.
2) The brown duck cloth will match the dark brown trim.
3) The headrest covers look to have a nice fit.
4) I ordered the center arm rest cover.
5) The pictures look like the covers have a nice tight fit on the seat bottoms.
6) I can get additional brown duck cloth from duck cloth fabric suppliers.
7) Product was in stock and will ship within 24 hours.
8) I prefer cloth seats for off-roading. I slide around on leather too much to be comfortable off-road.
9) I plan to Scotchgard the seats like I did with other duck cloth seats for additional protection.
10) I will continue to use the SOR covers for protection even if I replace the leather seats at some point in the future.

If somebody decides to order the full seat cover set. Join the SOR club for $49 to get 15% off. The break even point is $334. After that the membership starts to yield savings.
