Why do you go back and edit every post after you sell? People like to see what others buy and sell for and conditions for comparisons.
@ginericLC @Splangy
It's because he's a flipper and doesn't want people to know... what he doesn't realize is people can still see what section his old threads were posted in. About 15 ads in the 60/62 and 80 vehicle classifieds in the last 2 years. I began to recognize his driveway after 2 or 3 ads when I was looking to buy.
I think it's fine if people want to flip these things for profit, I just wish they would be up front about it instead of pretending they bought it to enjoy and then it just didn't work out because they "realized they don't have the time or space to work on it."
So that people do not email/PM me continually about something that is gone. If it is tech, I leave the post alone. If it is something that is long gone, I remove it if I can. I have 2 pristine FJ62s right now and have bought crappy ones and nice ones to get better parts for mine over the years and have bought a few that were nasty and headed to the scrap heap to save them. Fishtown, please refrain from saying derogatory crap when you have no idea who I am and what I do. Sometimes things don't work out how I want them to and have to cut my losses. With a bad back, I cannot do certain things and do not want to spend $$$$ on something that I may or may not keep..
Being how old I am with the amount of time on my hands, it is a fun hobby that keeps me busy.
Couldn't you just put sold in the title like everyone else?
That way you the pictures and other info could be preserved.
Sure, I could do that but why? It is a for sale ad and has no relevance tomorrow like tech and info posts do. What might be for sale today is different than what was for sale 2 years ago price or dollar wise. I see it as clutter and it needs to be cleaned up unlike many people I suppose.
Unlike the site owners apparently.
There is specific guidance on what should happen with old for sale posts and we are all guests in the house as it were. I and others disagree on its relevance tomorrow, but more importantly the guidance is proscribed and should be followed.

Egads!!! All these years here and I learned something new! I guess I will get in line at the rear of the lemming pack and follow along. I hope that makes everyone concerned happy.
I sort of find your attitude offensive calling the rule followers lemmings. I merely asked a question.
And there is good reason to save old for sale threads. One, we can look at vehicles in various conditions and see what they are selling for (approximately) in different parts of the country. Two, we can watch the history of the market, is the market growing stronger or weaker. I haven't bought or sold a 40 in 5 years but I know that the market has gone down some from watching sales here and other places. I've also noticed 60 and 62 and more recently 80 prices are on the rise. Three, if I do sell a Cruiser seeing old ads helps me justify the price I'm asking. There are lots of reasons. It also lets people know a little more about the person they are buying and selling from. What type of Cruisers do they have, what types of experiences have they had with other Cruisers, are they a flipper or are they a hoarder. It sets me up for what type of discussion or negotiation I can expect when I make contact with the seller. It is history and history helps us make better decisions for the future. You are erasing history. Whenever someone tries to hide history it makes me question their intentions.
Anyway, I just asked a simple question. I didn't expect drama to be the end result. Relax! If you keep your history you'll have nothing to defend.
