It was parked ever since. It sat just like this for the next 15 years until a fellow club member called me and let me in on the location of this little gem. It turns out it was running when parked in the garage. It's a 1975 FJ55. Looks like there will be a new pig in the club! I plan on it being my Daily Driver. No extreme wheeling or mods.

Ended up getting it for $600. All the parts you see missing are in the back. I've got some body work to do but it really is in pretty good shape.

It did have some damage to the front driver doors. And a this was the only significant rust I could find. Other than that all the other doors opened and shut with little effort.

Rear door looked pretty good.

Gauges and knobs looked good. They lost the keys so I'll have a little work to get everything working.

Headliner was in pretty good condition. Front seats are ripped but the rears from what I could tell were still okay.

All the emmisions system was still there.

Hood was in good shape

Something tells me that if I were to put a battery in it and flipped the rear window switch it would roll down. Though I'll probably lube everything back there up before trying it.

Stock rims and cap all the way around.

So I promised to get it out of her garage by this weekend. Let the fun Begin!

Why can I never find anything like that? Great find. Nothing like a piggy.

:grinpimp: :bounce:

oink, oink

Glad I could be of assistance.
I told the lady I would try to find a good home
for her daddy's Toy. Race went to the swift.
Congrats to ya Pal.
Lynn and I just about bought it, but my plate is too
full, as is, and it would just go to waste here.
I loved the kid telling us "Ya'll must be here to look at the
Jeep." Man, that was his Grandpa's Cruiser we talking about
and he didn't have a clue. Sad.
Good home now. That truck is going to love some TLC.
Too bad those bad boy mudders were rotted through and through.
Soooiiiieeeeeeee..... :pig:
Dibs on a test drive soon. :grinpimp:

Good score, Troll! How do you find time for all these hobbies of yours?

BTW,

Give Rick a call about seeing if he can cut you a key using the VIN number. I have done it several times with toyota. Don't know if he can go back as far as '75 but it's worth a try.

Have fun and be sure to give us some good write-ups and pics of the spring-over, cut-n-turn, locker installs, V-8 conversion,ex-o-cage,disk brake install, etc. :grinpimp:

Daily driverm my arse!!:flipoff2:

Havent been reading to many threads on pigs have you Marshal after this long that plastic gear is crap even if it just sat. They all break eventually. Of all the people with pigs on mud I can only think of a handful whose tailgate actually worked. It has to be the biggest troublespot on all pigs. Its great to have another one in the club though maybe we can at least get one to an event now, since mine has such a good track record. Are you going to repaint and bring back the two tone once the body work is done?

Some guys just have all the luck!!!! Great find David and good luck Marshall!

Ok, so who ever finds the next treasure 40 or 55.....I GOT DIBBS!!!! I have been going classic cruiser bonkers for the last 6 months and i have to have one!!!!:crybaby:

Why don't you get out to some events. Matt, man we need you around!

And Richard. I'm sure I have a lot to learn about piggies.

I wonder how much a good gear would be? If someone made one. Well found out today Toyota still carries the gear so I had Rick order one just incase.

Congrats, Marshall. Can't wait to see the final product.

Good luck with the build!

Congrats!...I alway wanted a pig to restore to stock for tooling around town.

PS let me know how to send the pics to you, I tried and got a "Requested mail action aborted: exceeded storage allocation" ( I was sending 4-5 pictures per e-mail)

Yeah I have a lot to learn about them too and they have been my primary car focus for 2 yrs now. Toyota has the gear and so does spector I think. Theres several threads about it in the 55 section. Someone was trying to gauge interest on making a metal one but I dont think it was there.

Right now my main focus is my job. I'm still driving to greenwood almost everyday( which is a good hour and fifteen minutes) to work at the sheriff's office there. I'm still working on getting that job in greenville. If i do end up going to greenville, I think I'll have alot more free time which i'll be able to come to more events and have more cruiser time.

Oh and the other day, i did my first body work. I cut out one of my rusty holes in the rear quarter panels. I actually enjoyed the process and found out that body work is as hard as you make it.:D

I'd like to go, seeing that last year was my first time going. I'd like to make it a annual thing with my cousin, which by the way he put 39in swamppers under his international truck. I know he's been itching to get out and experience some real trails and not the local mud hole around here.

I know i have to work that weekend, but i'm going to ask off. Hopefully they'll let me go, bc I have been major MIA, plus i miss club.
