This build just got intense.

Nice build.
Will you be moving or modify your gas tank?

Whichever is easiest as I install the dual cases.
Since I'll be running ORI's and will have to cut into the interior space for towers, I may just install a fuel cell in the back. That would also give me options for fuel pumps and such.
Picked up a dana 70 HD this afternoon, so hopefully I can have most of the parts I need before I even pull the factory drive train.

This thread just gets better & better. I have only seen tons on one other 80 build thread, he retained the stock tank with a 14 bolt. It was actually a Lx450. I can find the thread if you like, it was documented very well with alot of pics.

If you wouldn't mind posting a link to the thread, I'd appreciate it. I think the 241/205 is going to force relocating the gas tank regardless.
I'm going to be copying Path 88's radius arm setup off of pirate. For those that don't think radius arms can flex, you should read over his thread and check out the mad travel he has. It's pretty sick.

When are you moving? I'll help out if I can.

Well, here you go it's 40 pages of 1 ton fun.

I love that Dusty 3 linked it and kept the coils... That's $$$ can go other places ;)

The coils would be ok, but if I'm going through the trouble of swapping the axles and drive-train, a whole lot of "while I'm in there" may as well happen. The goal is to keep it perfectly happy driving to the trails, but add some serious axle movement numbers when wheeling. I'm shooting for 3-4 inches of increased travel in the rear and 5-6 in the front. I've now seen three different rigs wheeling on ORI's, and the adjustability of those things along with all of their built in perks (bump stops, limiting, almost infinite adjustment, stability), makes them a huge plus.

Looks like the first week of August for the move.

ORI's are out. The fat pig weighs far too much for the ORI struts. Cool thing is that coilovers are going to cost a heck of a lot less than the ORI's so I'll free up some cash for "surprises" that happen along the way.

Not sure how they rate thoes but remember they only need to hold up the sprung weight of the truck not the unsprung like axles, wheels/tires. I'll bet with tons and 40's that is close to 1500+lbs.

According to the guy at ORI, it's the gvw they're going off of when talking about vehicle weight. They're calculator also goes off of gvw. I'll go with what the manufacturer is saying on this rather than make a $3000+ mistake.

Was just wondering if they where going off gvw or sprung weight. Was not suggesting you try it. Just talk to them about, which it sounds like you have.

I wheeled ori's, the original ones, for the last 4 years or more on the front of my crawler I sold last week. The truck weighed 6500lbs with me, a full cooler and a full tank of fuel, with a 50-50 weight bias. So trail ready with another adult, 2 kids and a yellow lab it was even more. I loved the ori's and beat on them pretty hard with never a problem. I woukd not hesitate to run them again in any non racing application. If you look in my 1994 5.3l 4l60 swap thread there are a few pics at the top. If not I can add some off of my computer later.
