My right front wheel on my 71 fj55 is dragging/slow adjusting the drum brakes doesnt help. I think there is something else, maybe bearings? it doesnt smoke and steers straight.any ideas??`:meh:

Howdy! Could be bearings, or lack of lube. Have you pulled the drum off to see if it is full of mud, sand, grease, spare parts, dead mice, etc?? John

Hi All:

Interesting situation Kyle. I don't have any suggestions but wanted to "bump" this thread so hopefully you'll get a response from some of the more experienced folks on this forum.

Regards,

Alan

I had a front drum cylinder that got rusty and would not retract all the way....a Napa rebuild kit fixed it.

1. wheel cylinder not retracting as already mentioned
2. wheel cylinder adjuster seized, not turning/adjusting
3. with the wheel/drum on, you think you are adjusting all wheel cylinders but you are not
4. you are adjusting the wheel cylinder the wrong way

1 and/or 2? Replace the wheel cylinder(s)
Take it apart and make sure the above possibilities are not the case. Practice adjusting the wheel cylinders with the wheel/drum off where you can see the effects of what you are doing. Put it back together and practice what you just learned.

I really miss this now that I am 4WDB.......................NOT
