I'm just worried it'll wind up like the latest SpaceX rocket. Kaboom!
Looks more complicated than the Space Shuttle. Electricity is “magic” to me once I’m past two and three prong plugs or hanging a light fixture.
In my working days we would get called out to troubleshoot commercial customer's audio visual equipment racks that one of their IT subject matter experts that "dabbled in electronicity" touched. We would tell him we could get it working again but asked how would you like it done fast, cheap, or right - pick two. But hey, I've seen your work, you got this.

No, thank goodness I keep a lot in stock at all times, but the day is coming when I'll have to make that call. I heard a guy said any light beer drinkers shouldn't complain, because they're half way there already, just say'n. My pension is involved here remember.

Thanks Man! My problem is I can't leave well enough alone. There are so many really nice 55s out there, just so much fun watching them be built and seeing new ideas. The Mud Hen is running out of room for much more, so I was thinking of pulling out the passenger seat, Jeri wouldn't mind.

So, on the trip to the West coast last year I started to hear some clunking noises in the steering components, only off road. Finally got to take apart the whole column looking for worn parts, nothing. I got to the steering shaft ( Borgeson) shaft and u joints and there was the noise. The u joints ( needle bearings ) were worn and had too much slop in them. Not as bad as 120mm's shaft, but sure glad I found it before hitting the road again. I'm disappointed in them being made in the USA and thought to be top of the line joints, under 50,000 miles and shot. I don't know, maybe that's all you get out of them, anyway new ones bought and installed. Pig Party is getting closer!

I'll offer up a theory (and potential solution) on the steering u-joint component wear. Driveshaft u-joints are typically set up so that there is some amount of working angle - usually more than zero degrees, and less than one degree (there's math behind that, but not for this discussion). This allows the bearings in the u-joints to rotate, and distribute wear on the needle bearings due to constant rotation of the needle bearings. This is pretty well known, so I am just reiterating.
Theory: With the steering u-joint set up: there is none of the constant 'rotation' of the needle bearings, so they sit in one location and get wear in that one spot due to torsional vibration coming back up the steering components from the wheels. This eventually produces premature wear in the u-joint bearings.
Solution: every xxxxx miles, or once a year, disconnect the steering shaft and rotate it a quarter turn, or some spline amount (but not 180 degrees). This should move the wear area on the needle bearings to a new spot. And, make sure they have grease!
This solution is crazy, but is it crazy enough to be true?
