J Mack,

Forgot to tell you, I've been trying to get the A/C working, but the blower wouldn't work. After a whole day testing and on the phone with Restomod, it's the blower circuit board that was burned up. They're sending a new one, but too late for the trip. Took it out from behind the blower and everything was toast.

J Mack,

the blower circuit board that was burned up.

Mine was also bad, good news is the new one has work well and solved the issues I was having.

Coincidentally my A/C wasn’t working on our maiden voyage to Cruiser Fest and being mid pack on some of the long dusty trails with the windows down made me wish I had spent more time working on it before the trip, might see if RestoMod will send the new board to an address near the camp ground or a vender that’s coming later in the week and you can install it there.

Well, we're all packed and ready to leave in the morning. The back is full and she's squatting some from the weight. I'll try to post pictures along the way, but if not then when we get back. Been waiting for this trip for a long time, should be a great adventure.

Just want to thank everybody for putting up with me and the SLOW 71 for all these years, now it's time to get her dirty.

MOAB OR BUST!

Are you staying at Slick Rock Campground?

let's see, Thursday...Arches family run, Friday....Fins and things and Sat....Dome plateau. All are the easier ones, but should have a good time.

Are you thinking about making it?

If all goes as planned, I will be on Fins/Friday and Dome/Saturday!

Pablo,

I'M at Slick Rock now. I have a problem going on with the rear axle. It is running gear oil up the vent tube into the cabin. When the sun come up, I'LL see what's going on.

Jinkees! Get her fixed! I'll be there tonight, spot 58

Well, bad news. Did my first run and something is going out in the transfer case or rear end. Not drivable the way it is. Going to talk to a few people here, but looking at shipping it home. Did a great run on Fin and Things trail. Had a great trail leader who got the 55 over some amazing rocks with just a little bumper rub. Maybe some one at camp has a better idea, so I'll wait until tomorrow to decide what to do with it.

Well that's a shame but don't get discouraged. Reach into that ice chest, grab one for you and a few for the cruiser community that I am sure is at this very moment is trying to help you find a solution. Gear oil in the cab is either the breather has a pick up sitting in oil or the rear end is flinging oil into the pickup and temperature increase is pumping it up the line. Maybe some sort of baffle? Hope you get it figured out so you can keep rolling. If I were there I'd be rolling up my sleeves (whatever that is worth)!

Got an update! One of the guys here in camp solved it. The rear u bolts came loose and was letting the axle rotate causing it to bind.

I'll look Pablo up tomorrow and show him. I'll retighten them tomorrow after I finish this cool six pack.

Napster,

The oil was just over filled and driving all day, maybe it got too hot. They seem to think it's not a big deal. At least I can drive it home.

Hopefully next year. My dad really wanted us to go. The more I drive mine, little problems start showing up. I just replaced the radiator last weekend. At least you're there.:beer:

Bob,

On the first trail I didn't have time to take many pictures, nervous about the wagon. Tomorrow going to try and have my Wife take some action shots. Everybody was shooting videos of us, so hopefully we can get a copy. Some of the guys were using those Gopro cameras, neat stuff! I'll have to wait until we get home to post any pictures, I'm not techno enough to figure it out here.
