If you guys could post pictures of your FJ40 33x9.5 or 30x9.5 tires with no lift (They dont have to be BFG MT) it would be much appreciated. 9.5 is a must, I have already seen the thousands of threads with the 10-12.5s on them.

Thanks,

John

I have Con-Ferr shackles, but no lift.

Do you need spacers or anything for those??

So a 2.5" lift will handle 33's?? All the suspension places I've been talking to say I need to get a 4" lift. Now I'm back to square 1 on my lift kit choice decision...

I Might Add, Please Include whether you have shackle lift and what brand tire / model you are running.

If your going to run 33x9.5 I would probably have a 2.5" lift. I was thinking about doing it with my stock suspension but it seems everyone has a shackle or something for extra clearance. I would really like to see a 30x9.5 but i dont think anyone takes pictures of there rigs with those lol.

I'm thinkinag about the same choice, I'm very curious if a 9.5 inch tire sticks out beyond the rear fenders. I'm thinking of going back to my stock rims, so I know that will help. Right now I have 7 inch white spoke wrims with 235/75R 15's The sidewall just barely protrudes beyond the rear fender/body side. I have BFG AT, which tuck in tighter than the old ELdorado ZR4 AT's I had originally, the sidewall really ballooned on them.

My reasoning, is I do not want flares, and I do not like the tires throwing mud and road spray all over the side of the rig. I want that crap trapped in the fender so it can properly rust through in there :) But seriously, do they stick out or not. My measurements all say they do, but most guys pics look like they stay in nicely, especially on stock rims.

Oh and Jwood, as for the 30 inch tire, I'm considering that too, but pricing them online, it seems they are several dollars more than a 235/75, and you only gain about half an inch of diameter, probably not worth the money.

I know at full stuff on my stock rig, the 235's are very close to touching things. I don't think 33's will do well without a lift, but maybe they work.

Anyone know what happens at full stuff, opposing corners, like a big ditch scenario or something???

9.5's do not stick out at all. In this picture, I have a 31x10.5 Swamper next to a 33x9.5 M/T.

Don't put the 33's with no lift. I have a MAF 4" w/SR, 33x10.5 BFG MT's and barely make it with no rub. When I stuff my left front, my tire makes love with my drag link in both directions. Going Sag next to axe that problem. Get ready to spend the money. Good luck.

Negative ghost rider. the 33 x 9.50 work great on the 40 with a 2.5 even without trimming.

Lift doesn't help nor hurt the drag link problem. It's the tire width that is your issue.

I have no lift and my 33x9.5 BFG ATs just touch the TRE at the front of the drag link rod and polish the drag link a tiny bit. I have no fender clearance issues at full articulation at either end. The tub has two polished spots where there's a brace in the back.

This is off topic but....Awesome Photos Esh! Gotta love beautfiul landscape panoramas with a cruiser right in the middle :).

These are 33 x 9.5 BFG AT's. I added slightly longer than stock shackles to add another 3/4 inches of clearance. The rears fit inside the body and haven't rubbed ( mild offroad use).

After seeing a truck like that, it makes me want to scrap everything and get 33x9.5s haha. I think i am going to end up with 30.4" Courser Traction LT's

a question for people who wheel with 33x9.5's. how do they do offroad? Im stuck between 9.5's and 10.5's with 2.5" of lift *for now* and a sag steering. I plan on moderate wheeling on rocks and trails. And possibly some beach driving. And i was just wondering if the extra inch of width is worth it?
