Guy at work needs quick cash. He wants to sell me his 96. 6" slee lift, slee bumpers and sliders I think or may be another brand, elockers, no supercharger, dual batteries, mile marker winch, 200k miles, new 37irok radicals on stock wheels. Birfields click, decent sized dent in quarter panel, torn seats, rear main leaks, paint is s bit faded. What do u guys think it's worth? I'll get a pic here soon.

$5k

Well he spent at least $5-6k on upgrades, so I think he's being pretty generous with you.

Contact info? I know of a couple of potential buyers that would be happy to evaluate, buy it out from under you!

The clicking BIRFS and the leaking rear main seal..... no thanks

Yes, Cash in your 401K!

I'm waiting for the "well, he sold it to someone else while I was thinking about it..." comment.

I'll take the Slee rear off your hands.
Think so? I know upgrades don't always increase value. Personally some of his upgrades are not what I would do.

I just bought my first 80 2 months ago. What I can tell you is what you already know that's wrong with the LC is only a fraction of what's wrong. Have a fellow forum member come look at it with you or take it to a shop to be throughly checked out... then and only then make an offer. But do yourself a favor and know what you are getting into before you are locked in.

$1500 later in birfs / apindles / axles, what else is wrong?

Some here like to spend lots of $$$ on their rigs, who says its not just low on grease? Even so, birfs can be replaced for a fraction of that. Look at it this way: 6" slee lift = $3000, slee bumpers = $3000, sliders = $700, mile marker winch $400, 37 Irok tires $1500, the rest of it is scrap, throw it away! If nothing else, sounds like a good trail rig, rear main leaks, so like just about all of them?! :meh: :hillbilly:

good advice, yet who would have thought that you'd have to do work on an old car?
these things could last a lifetime, but everything needs upkeep.

so he buys it for 7, needs to put down 2-5 over a period of 2 -5 years depending on what happens when (if the worse happens)... still not a bad way to go.

Oops, forgot, I have two willing buyers that will pony ~$1500 for a good/not rust bucket locked axle kit!

Buy that Mofo!

YES, and its probably the rear pan arch seal (very common) not the rear main. Even if the birfs are shot and the rear main leaks you should buy it. Its worth it for parts alone, but remember this is the internet. Everyone bought their super clean, locked, all maintenance up to date low mile 80 series for 2K...
