Really 5k? I'm not sure he'll go that low. I really haven't followed 80 prices. A quick look at for sale ads and it seems like prices are all over the place

Just thinking big dents and bad interior. Plus 6 inch lift usually means vibrations you have to chase down.

FYI, my answer is always "yes" when it comes to buying an 80 Series.

@White Stripe

It will distract you from your FJ40. If you're prepared for that, get it. In the end, not huge $$. You will be surprised how versatile it is, and will take you where you thought you could only go in your 40!

I'd run the clicking birfs.

My birfs in my 93 have been clicking for 30k miles. Meh. Not a priority.

I'll say what I always say:

"I've never regretted a Land cruiser I've purchased. Only the ones I didn't. (And the ones I've sold.)"

if the rear is just a drip dont fix it. if it is a real leak then it will be a pain to fix. Much worse than birields. All birfs need service anyway. Do them with fresh seals and bearings, brakes and rotors. Maybe just flip the birfs and see how they do. Not a bad fix at all.

rear main will be harder to address if it is a real leak.

All i am really saying is Birfieds are a regular service item. You should count on SERVICING them on any truck you buy, several times over the life of ownership. If they are serviced right you might not have to replace the actual birfield. But if they are clicking then you are really only spending extra for the cost of the actual birfield if it needs replacement.

Hope that makes sense.

WHo knows about the price. If it is what you want then go for it. I would not want a 6" lift and 37s. But the bumpers and lockers are nice. Too bad the body is dented. interior will be expensive to fix unless you are happy with just seat covers.

Value of Cruisers are all over the place. Who kows.

I spent WAY more than that on my two 80's, but knowing what I know now all that is fixable. Thing is, I found a master mechanic that just works on Toyota's. If I hadn't worked with him I might be scared off. Do you have a "guy"? Are you the guy?

Not sure where you're located, but in SoCal that would be a great deal. All the "issues" with it are common on them. But yes, it will distract you from your other projects of course.

Got the title in your name yet?

Buy it and let the beatings commence. Sounds like a rig that has the potential to put a grin on your face.

Clean and maintained matters. It could be that nice.

Slee 6 inch comes with a DC drive shaft to take care of vibrations. Sounds like a good deal to me. There's a MUD member who sells new leather and you can still get OEM seat foam. The carpets can get pulled out to clean. I have an 80 and 40, wheel the 80.

It's green. It can't be THAT nice...
Hey! Some green Land Cruisers are nice....
