Been on and off building a small garage shop. I am going to have some time off in the next few days and wanted to get more done to hopefully move my crap back in. I am out of ideas on looks. I am a builder so unfortunetely the thing is looking like a living room instead of a garage.

Post any cool pic you might have so I can stop making the room look like a living room and more like a shop....

Thanks,

Goebs

Soon enough it'll look too much like a shop and not enough like a living room :flipoff2:
Don't worry, once you start working in it it'll fix itself !

What kind of equipment do you have?

I think I'd put a couch right next to the green 40. Beer fridge. Maybe one of those sticker kits that make the fridge look like a tool box. Good stereo. Heat and A/C. Black and white tile floor. Good lights.

Then I'd spend a lot of evenings sitting, drinking and looking at the Cruiser.

Maybe once in a while I'd switch the 40 with the 55.

Well, I would plan on lots of peg board and shelves. A must for any shop. Most people I hang with do as I do, put it were it fits best. There are tools you will need for every job and tools you use on occasion. The everyday tools are on the pegboard in front of me and the kids know where they are and shag them for me.

I like all the stuff Gumby said to do. But that couch might be unproductive.

Rather just a few pictures posted here, I recommend that you visit garagejournal.com and check out the garage gallery at the following link

http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=7

There are a wide spectrum of garages and shops that you can view here. Some of the high end ones like the Bunker or Circle 41 are amazing. You will be able to see a lot of ideas and different ways to create the shop/garage that you want.

Good luck and enjoy.

Nice link El Cazador. One thread made me feel a lot better about my shop/garage/mess. But there were some nice shops going as well in that forum too.

Yep, they run the spectrum. But the better ones are just plain amazing. Frankly the organization and cleanliness of some of them make me embarrassed to call my collection of machines & tools a "shop" at all.

Have a workbench for each hobby you have.

I have a Hard Maple Work Bench just for woodworking.

I also have a heavy duty work bench that you can put a 2F on if you had to.

I have a 12' long Die Table used for working big long things. Like extended reach Pole saws adn axle assy that are off the rig.

I have a welding area that all the welding stuff goes. I don't have to worry about ginding dust getting in other projects.

I have a bench just for chain saws as well.

The industrial parts washer is to the left of my Chain Saw bench.

Always keep you tool box and tools in mind.

Peg Board is good for the constantly used tools but you need to keep the rest of your tools within easy access as well.

I am only looking for inside pics. Or should I say was... I spend an hour looking aat the site from above and holy crap... I now have my concept in mind.
Gumby's concept is sounding like a great path for me. I know I will crap it up in time but might need to make it nice and comfortable before that point.
The floor is the only issue still. I love the input and it helpes me focus nd get it done!
Off to the shop to stain cabinets, build another work bench surface, and trim out the windows. Long night ahead..

Ahhh paradise. I know that feeling. I have sat many a night in the garage not doing anything but drinking and looking at the cruisers.

Marshall,
I just looked at that oldcarguys' shop and now feel the need to go home and bulldoze my little 2 car...
Simply amazing shop. Way beyond my skillset. I don't know what most of those tools even do! I am a parts replacer.
Great site though.
I am at finish wall paint now so if I ever get out of meetings, I might get the walls painted and move my crap in. The floors are going to have to get finished in the spring cause the weather here sucks.

Same here. Fun to look all the same. He posts up a lot on that board and is a wealth of knowledge.
