Well it's probably time to start a thread I suppose.

New 42 x 60 steel building at my Dad's for a new shop. I need more space to fit all my tools and keep working on stuff on my free time.

Its a frost protected monopour, so only needed to go down 16".

I over cut and brought in clean fill to get rid of the massive amounts of river rock around here. 16 loads of structural fill in the pad and stem wall trench.

Need to get the infloor in and get rebar done, but pour is scheduled for Oct. 10th.

More updates to come!

All the infloor foam showed up, and I got it down this weekend. Very easy install, and laying the pex is a breeze. It took my dad and I about 4 hours to get the foam down.

3 / 8 runs of pex done. Maybe 30 minutes a piece, with no stapling or tieing required, which is very nice on the back.

Warm floor will be awsome of your out there often enough to warrant keeping it warm 👍🏻

Given how much I tend to be in a shop, it'll get used a lot. I couldn't imagine not having heat out there in the winters.

A few big updates.

Got all the rebar in and plumbing in for now.

Used a few scrap chunks of 35# ibeam from work for some jib crane mounts. Had some leftover nelson studs as well, so those got slapped on.

If those move, it's gonna be a problem.

Day of pour we had a great sunrise. Pump truck showed up just in time for a sick picture.

Got 8 trucks pumped in about 2 hours. We were fighting some light rain, but it worked out in the end. The finishing crew we got were some of the best i've seen. They were efficent and got this thing f l a t.

Weather ended up holding out for us just enough to get the slab finished before the weather pushed in. Ended up with 1% calcium in the first 5, and then 2 % for the other 3. Worked out well.

They had enough power trowels on the slab it seemed like they were playing bumper cars, but they got a super nice semi polished finish like I requested. More than enough to sweep, but enough texture to not slip.

Anways, we ended up with exactly 64 yards in the pour. 6 less than expected, which means I did an okish job with the hole.

Standing up the building next weekend along with backfilling, so I'm getting excited.

Lots more done. Building is ready for siding.

Dan and I had lots of fun this weekend getting the sheet insulation on the walls and starting the interior metal sheeting.

I'm getting evicted from the old shop cause my dad needs space to pack in stuff since he is going over to germany for a few years for work, so I started moving tools over.

Need to run the rest of the electric and get the infloor set up, and panel some more. Overall, super happy with the progress so far.

Got the rest of the wall sheeting that is going on done for now. super happy with the gray paneling, hopefully it hides fab dust well.

Started playing with conduit. I've never run conduit before, but it bends just like my tube blender, so it's pretty intuitive for me. I also love playing with tubes so that helps too I guess.

I am dropping disconnects for all the main machine tools so I can fully power down the VFDs. I hate running those all the time.

Anyways, hoping to get the meter inspection tomorrow, and then have the building live!

More shuffling of things.
