I WHACKED my hand when one of the rears let go. I cut the hell out of myself. I put gloved on for the second "break" of the top bolt.

I put some hose clamps on my front CV's while I had the wheel off....they were weeping a bit from my torsion bar tweak.

Pictures to go with my install.

22mm box end is mandatory. If you buy one, get one with the hinge/knuckle on the box end. It may keep you from doing this to your hand.

I just ordered a set of these shocks yesterday. Bilstein raised their prices about two weeks ago, so get ready for a sticker shock. E-Shock.com sells these for 98.75 per front and 125.00 per rear. I have a buddy who works at Bilstein so I was able to get them for cheaper then that. Tirerack.com lists their fronts at 66.00 rears at 125.00 and Summit racing lists the fronts at 74.95 and the rears at 109.00. I am just not sure if they have updated their pricing on the website yet to reflect Bilstein’s new pricing. These are the same number I saw when I was looking for shocks a few weeks ago. I could not get the fronts for 66.00, rears I was able to do better.

I found the same think. I placed a order with eshocks, waited for 2 weeks for the shocks. Then got an email telling me they were going to have to charge me 150 bucks more, after I was invoiced. So i canceled the order and ordered from Summit. Still expensive but, I got free shipping. I have been trying to get the shocks on for the last couple of day, but I cant get the top bolt loose. Its not an access problem, they just wont break. I sprayed them with liquid wrench, and am letting them sit... Any suggestions?

My rear upper shock mount nuts were the same way: Rust frozen. I cut the open end off the open end/box end wrench, just like the one wngrog posted a photo of, so I could get a cheater bar on it. It finally came off...but I bent the wrench doing it

Better than cutting a hole in the body above the shock mount! But if the above solution doesn't get you there you might have to do that so you can get an air impact wrench on it.

I used a pipe wrench but the screwdriver trick works too along with a chain/vise grip tool also.

torch off the tops of the shocks if you have to.... will you really use those old shocks again? don't feel bad if you have to destroy them... mine went in the garbage when they came off...

How are you holding the shock?

I hammered a large scewdriver into the body of mine and that way I could put 2 hands on the wrench.

Cut the hole and never look back, you will be so glad you did. Then remove both nuts in 20 seconds. Best mod I ever did to the 100.

Use KO seals and cork insulating tape for a weather proof seal <link

Spray them with PB Blaster. Best stuff out there for frozen nuts/bolts IMO.

Doing some shopping for front end shocks...narrowed it down to radflo 2.5" emulsion, radflo 2.0" res shocks or bilsteins. Need some insight on the bilsteins as I am still researching the radflo option. Not sure if once a month trips to oceano is enough to constitute the need for radflos

Just want to confirm that this is in fact the shock that I want if I were to go bilstein? Is there another bilstein for the 100 series out there? I have seen several different answers and I do not want to order the wrong thing

I recently ordered mine from Autozone.com and delivered to my door all four Bilsteins (Front 24027397 and back 24027403) were $322.20 and they sent me $45 in autozone gift cards as a rebate of sorts.

I didn't think this was a bad deal. $277.20 to my door after the gift cards.

Think there was a 10 day lead time.

Forgot to mention I ordered them recently: August 20th

Not bad!

I do not load down my truck or drive it over washboards for 100's of miles so I do not need radflo/fox/king shocks. Most of the time when I am on in oceano I do not go too fast because I do not want my tools and other gear to fly around:hillbilly: Slowly but surely in the dunes. I am on the fence between bilstein and ironman, leaning towards bilstein still as they are proven and widely used by others here on the board. If the billies fail, my next set will be radflos or fox with reservoir:D
