2nd sample, difference source, came back positive for coliform again. time to shock the well. read through local Environmental Health documents, etc.

don't wanna fubar it, gonna start calling locals, thought I'd see what ya'll think. trying to hook the 8k tax credit, which means a time crunch.

It has it's uses, but it is on;y temporary.

And, increased arsenic concentrations in wells in Fallon Nevada have been associated with shocking a well.

up to you, but I would not do it.

Run the well for a long time, and you should not have any coliform issues. Unless you have problems that shocking will not solve..

did shock, flowed nearly an hours worth of water, awaiting results. not very happy w/chlorine tasting water: asked guy how long it'd be like that, response of "for a while, now it tastes like Albuquerque water" did not make me feel good. Billing to come after sample, so I couldn't even bitch heim out then. grrrr.

Another hours worth of water from kitch, bath sink, bath tub still has lesser chlorine taste n smell. don't wanna give this water to my dogs, definately not my fish....

i shock mine at my cabin ever fall, pour a gallon of clorox or shock tabs in there........i don't really use the water until hunitng season, so about a month before deer season i shock it.Always been fine.

I always shock a well that tests positive for any bacteria. If it's a one time problem say after flooding or heavy rains it might test fine afterwards. If it test positive again than you know you have a continuing problem and you can correct it.

water flows tasty again, and I closed in time for the credit.

asked the dude how often to shock and w/how much bleach: annually, 1/2 cup. good to know.

Fallon NV? Went to junior +HS in Winnemucca: that soil is gypy to start w/.... (my pops was a windmiller, don't get me started on NV water, as I was his summer-time helper)
