For slow rockcrawling, I'd even argue that the 2.5's are even overkill. .

I wouldn't. I've found the boulder fields leading too and from a lot of rock crawling sites can be very taxing on the 2.0's. I've noticed that as the day gets later the body roll seems to increase. Could also be driver fatigue though. But I haven't ran 2.5's yet so I don't know how much difference that will make. I'm hoping its significant though.

It’s significant. From my experience I noticed some minor fade after a long day of pushing the 2.0s hard. Not even a hint of fade with the 2.5s even when the shocks are too hot to touch.

I run the Dobinson yellow shocks for 5”-6” lift with the 3” tapered coils and they match up perfectly for using all of the down travel offered by the tapered coil.

However you will ever use all of that spring because the radius arms bind first. That spring and shock combo gives a much more comfortable ride than OME/OME.

Might I ask how much lift you got out of the Dobinson 3" tapered? GW Nugget was telling me to expect 4-5" in reality.

Radflo 2.5 resevoir work good for me, I live in western colo and run lots of rocky trail here and Utah. My other choice would be the slee or icon.

Just get the Dobinson yellows then that will give you time to figure out what 2.5 shocks you want.

Besides... when you send the 2.5s in for a rebuild or revalve what cheap shocks will you run while they take 2 weeks to get them back.

The Dobi yellows are $125 you can't go wrong.

Also if you really really want to pair those coils to same mfg. then go with the MRR shocks... @David Otero what is comp. & ext. on those so I can post them up in the Compiled thread...

Don’t have the numbers but here is how my Dobinsons sit with 3” tapered. I also have stage 4 slinky shocks installed. I believe my numbers were very close to what GW Nugget stated.

Great looking truck, brother. If you can get me a ground to frame measurement from the middle of driver side front door that would be helpful. Looks like you are on 35s there? What did they charge you for the shocks?

No thanks. The teal springs are enough as it is. Don't need yellow shocks to really complete the puke factor. My truck isn't my only means of transportation. I'll send shocks in for re-build in the off season and she can sit while they get re-built.

I also run a 1” spacer on top of the spring. My measurements indicate a strong 4.5”. So, the spring itself would be 3.5” as they are advertised.

This will depend on how heavy your rig is. Most aftermarket coils are made with extra weight in mind.

My front bumper and winch are about 150 pounds (tube bumper) but I have sliders and skid plates too.

Thats a relief to hear. Want to keep her slammed.

I was hoping Dobinsons 3" flexi would pair up nicely with OME L's (60070).

OME shocks are awful. There’s no reason to buy a great dual rate coil and then brutalize your ride with OME shocks anyway.

I run Fox 2.0 remote reservoir with the 4” Flexi coils. It’s outstanding on and off-road. I haven’t had any issue with fade on long trail approaches.

I also run eye adapters and a 10” travel shock, so I’m not trying to figure out excessive rear down travel. As far as I’m concerned, any travel while one side of the axle is on a limiter isn’t well balanced.

...thanks in part to the data and work posted by GW Nugget is his uniform thread I feel as though I am miles ahead on what’s among the biggest purchases for the rig.

It ain’t cheap but all these tight distribution points for what are extraordinary products is discouraging. I made a friend here on mud and there’s plenty I esteem, he has got all that I need with more on the way. The entire business is premised that way.

I am not wealthy and cannot afford to just try-out new chit out every time I head out to the trail. Nor do I have the skill set that someone should be paying me for my opinion.

Point is, if I break something, I want that chit overnight or I want your arse if you’re gonna tell me eight weeks.

High dollar set-ups are necessary in the community but I straight-up will pass on exclusivity.

I would classify these as mediocre at best. I ve had these on rigs in the past but not for years. IMO these are way too soft on an 80 and have a hard time controlling the truck. For mild around town/highway driving they might be “ok” as a cheap shock option but if you use them for “overland” type offroading they can heat up and fade quickly leaving you with no dampening.
The RS9000 model is slightly better with some adjustment in dampening but they suffer the same symptoms.

IMO if you are looking for less expensive options there are better choices out there.
