I would like to install two ram horn manifolds and bring the RH side under the oil pan to a Y pipe. I took it to a shop this morning and they said I would need to relocate the oil filter to get everything tucked up so it is not visible. Currently it goes under the front drive shaft and hangs low. Anyone else have to relocate the oil filter to do this?

No.

Find a competent exhaust shop.

Don't know if your filter is in the same spot as mine, but here's a pic. 350 smallblock. I did need a 2'' spacer to join the manifold to the y-pipe for the passenger side. I used a heat riser ,gutted and welded . I have part #s, that I used ,if they will work for you.

Does the heat wrap help? I was thinking of doing the same thing.

I just picked up a 60 with a 5.7 TBI. It has the same routing and my filter is a little closer to the pipe than yours.

Thats Not even a little right. Under the driveshaft? Incredible.

The crossover on my SWB is made out of a chunk of pipe i pulled out of some car and then cut up on my band saw and welded together, joined at a Y purchased at car quest. If I can do it out of parts, any fool can make one.

What I did with pig is to go to an exhaust shop and had them bend a ten foot section into a bunch of 180s. Then I had a bunch of curves to cut apart and reweld.

Don't have her on the road yet, I'm still putting her back together. I was hoping that the header wrap will help keep the heat in the engine compartment down and keep the oil cooler. What you see in the pic is a high temp silicone wrap over the header wrap. Hoping my header wrap will last longer (?)TBD.

Cliff, just to make sure you have the ram horns with the center dump which dump straight down. Also it's hard to tell from the pics, but does the exhaust drop below the frame or is it at least level with it? Did you have to modify the y pipe 42087?

miller, saw you posted on pbgbottle's other thread, not by my truck right now, but I'm fairly certain the dump for the ram horns are not below the frame. But the Y-pipe most surely is because of the bends in the pipe to clear the oil pan. Also ,I'm not an expert, nor do I claim to be a mechanic, but shouldn't both exhaust manifolds dump the same(front ,middle, rear)? Might make it easier to find your y-pipe.

Center straight dump both sides. About level or above the frame. I haven't finished the rest after the y-pipe yet.

Ha the first two posts made me laugh out loud for real

It's true and I would never go back to that shop ever

Hey Cdan what was your Dorman part number?? the same as the walker part # or different?? I am in the market for the one with the least amount of work involved....

Secondly I just did a search on rockauto for a 1960 C10 pickup with a 5.7L and it suggests the Walker 42087 pipe, so I am guessing its the same, I wonder why he had oil filter clearance issues??? I am going to see who can get it here the fastest and place an order today!!! :bang::clap::doh:

I'll have to dig through the records to check, but that number sounds familiar.

And for the record,
I am Not Cdan.
I do not sell parts.
