Next up.....Mississippi sold in 1985 and owned by multiple people but only 130,000 miles. Crazy. This one was owned at some point by @dnp then it got sold a few times and then it must have sat many years. It was pretty nasty under the hood. Multiple dirt dobber nests. Grease. Grime.

It's had some good work. Properly desmogged and it actually runs really good.

It's in for a good under hood refresh. Lots of the heater hoses are original. I'll 86 the rear heater and eliminate most.

Got some armor to install.

Paint to polish out.

Overall a really cool Mississippi survivor

Today I got it out on the road to get a feel for the motor, brakes, steering etc.

Then I got in and splashed it with Zepp purple and went to town.
Cleaned up nicely around the firewall and fenders. I'll get all the stuff off I want powdercoated this week and off to PowderKeg

The original owner must have backed this thing into its parking spot and stopped when he hit the wall. Never seen anything like this.

First 60 series I owned. I bought it in 2017 from a guy in the pine straw business in Brookhaven. Seriously, it was almost like he piled pine straw in 10 foot high piles and drove through it all day. There was pine straw in every nook and cranny in that body (including the front inner fenders being FULL of pine straw!) If a spark had ever hit that area, I'm pretty sure it would have exploded like the Christmas tree on Christmas Vacation!

Anyway, the story he told me was he had an issue with his neck, and he couldn't turn his head all the way around. As a result, he'd back the 60 up to his trailer until it hit, which would then put it close enough to hook it up. Clearly, he didn't center it to the trailer tongue first, as almost all of the dents are in both rear taillights. Also, this is the truck for which I couldn't find suitable carpet.....and was the inspiration for the 6x, 80, and 100 carpet we now sell.

It looks just like I remember it (it had some sort of custom-looking seat covers on it, but underneath was probably the best OEM 60 cloth I've ever seen. I also hate I put that aluminum radiator in it. Should have gone OEM). It's a fine specimen for doing the work you're going to be doing. I look forward to the continuing build thread!

I almost pulled the trigger on a CSF radiator today when I was ordering parts but I was just being a snob. The aluminum is fine. Took me 1/2 way around my test track for the needle to rise so I know it is doing a good job.

I went with @dnp to pick this one up and drove it back from Brookhaven. Never knew how small a stock 60 was until I got passed by an 18 wheeler on 55 and my head felt like it was at the same height of the rubber wrapped around the Alcoa’s next to me. The rear window was made out of the finest plexiglass and we thought for sure it was going to blow out on the way home. The 80 wheels came out of my stash years ago after the truck traded hands again, again, again…and the tires are straight from @wct49. Crazy to see it resurface again.

Plexi is still there.

I think it's found it home now.

Going to see what's under this sun damage.

For those that don't know, this is one of my favorite things on old Cruisers. Trying to pop some paint back from year of abuse

Preserving Patina is my original thread on this.

This truck has so much filth in the paint I have to go to CLR first to clean it before I start the buff and polish.

Before

I tried to skip the CLR and you can see what the polish was pulling off

So I went back with CLR and a blue scotchbrite pad then I have the hood looking pretty good.

Got the rest of the passenger side then moved to the rear. This tailgate and lift gate both still function with all of these dents.

I am kinda really digging them to tell you the truth. Funny ass story.

As rust-free and low-mileage as that truck is, the current owner ought to consider treating that truck to a repaint.

I bought those tail light lenses as OEM replacements; however, they were "unusually cheap," so I pretty much came to the conclusion they are Chinesium OEM (IIRC, they have all of the correct information on them, as if they were OEM Toyota)

He's not against it. I personally like the way it looks as is.
